Who Wants A 2018 DailyTurismo Wall Calendar?

I'd like to offer some free DailyTurismo 12-Month wall calendars to DT readers out there in cyberspace, but with a big caveat...I need a photo of your car for the calendar.  The plan is to put together a calendar of DT reader's rides...your car!  It can be a car you've purchased on DT, found on the side of the road last week, or something you've owned since your 16th birthday -- it really doesn't matter.

Call For Reader Rides

This is a call for Reader Rides, the stuff you drive/wrench/crash, and not necessarily cars for sale, just cars that you own (or have owned) and would be of interest to our readers.  If you want your ride featured on Daily Turismo, just send us a few hi-res photos (or links) and a few words about the car.

Indecision 2016: Jeep Triage

DT reader "mister x" just sent in the following request for help...here it is, unedited and uncut:

HOPING, PRAYING, someone could kick me in the right direction... sorry if i ramble a bit, trying to talk this out.  i am looking at THREE jeeps and i think my biggest challenge is really understanding what i need/want (yes 2 different things i am finding and a jeep just magnifies the issue!  Each has good and bad points of issue.... i love manual BUT this will be a DD as well as offroad.  I would like to believe i will FINALLY go offroad  (bad roads, mud trails, no rock climbing of note around here (muskoka Ontario Canada)... say i am a "wannabe" trying to be a "real" jeeper (is that the word?) that needs a winter DD (yes now IS the time to buy one when NOT needed)

Reader Ride: TC's Honda Civic DL (EK) Hatchback

Interview by K2 Mystery Car with images from TC. In my recent post exploring the current market value of the 2000-2006 Honda Insight , there was a discussion of the value of buying a good used gasoline-powered Civic in comparison to the oddball hybrid. DT member carr9146 (aka TC) commented that he’d chosen to do exactly that. Here are his thoughts and experiences on the subject.

Reader Ride: Matt's 1983 928RS Carrera That Porsche Should Have Built

Some of the Reader Ride features submitted to this site have been fantastic hot rod/restomod (whatever you want to call it) examples of classics -- the Dinsdale Piranha V12 Porsche, the MGB GT-Twincam, and the '75 Capri JPS spring to mind...but this next feature is a testimony to dedication and craftsmanship that is mind boggling.  And my mind isn't easily boggled.

Reader Ride: Dan Vance's 1975 Ford Capri John Player Special

This next Reader Ride feature comes from Nick Vance, who is submitting pictures of the car and its story for his father, Dan. The car is a stunning example of a strange piece of iron, a 1975 / Ford / Capri II / John Player Special Race Car (Based on the road going version known as the Black Cat in America.)

Reader Ride: Jeff's 1982 Porsche 928 With Toyota 1GZ-FE V12 Power

There are a few rules when it comes to engine swaps, chief among them is that the swap must in some way improve the vehicle.  With the first generation US spec Porsche 928 there are plenty of engine swaps that will give acceleration improvements, but something like a carbureted small block Chevy is entirely too mundane.  What you really need is the only V12 ever produced by Toyota shoved behind a 6-speed gearbox...that'll get the old blood flowing.  Today's reader ride is this 1982 Porsche 928 with Toyota 1GZ-FE V12 and Corvette 6-speed manual transaxle built by Jeff  Mauldin (aka Dinsdale Piranha) in a shed behind a church.

Reader Ride: Gianni's MX-5 Miata

It has been a while since we've had an edition of DT's Reader Ride feature, also known as a festival of funk, fungus and Fiestas!  Regular contributor Gianni noticed the pause in Reader Ride features, and he was nice enough to send us some details on his (NA generation) MX-5 Miata.

Buyer Story: Old School Mazda RX-7

This next Reader Ride comes to us from Dennis who found the car via an article DT published in August of this year...so it is more of a Buyer Story.  The subject vehicle is a fantastically clean 1979 RX-7 Limited purchased for a great price, read the story in the buyer's own words below:

Reader Ride: Foxy Lady In White

Time for another edition of DT's Reader Ride feature, which keeps coming back and won't go away, like a fishhook boomerang.  This next feature comes from reader Zach H. who found this Fox Body Mustang after narrowing his potential rides list down to a Miata, E30 or Fox Mustang.  I think he made the right choice with this bodacious Fox body.

Reader Ride: Rally Bred Austin Mini Cooper

Time for another edition of DT's Reader Ride feature, also known as a festival of fuel, fire and Fieros!  It might be my imagination, but these cars keep getting nicer!  This next feature comes from reader Todd who not only provided us with photos and formatted text, but also put it on his own website to make it easy.  Whatta fellow!  Oh, did I mention the car is everything you'd ever want in a classic Mini?

Reader Ride: Attention To Detail MGB GT-Sport

Time for another edition of DT's Reader Ride feature, which keeps delivering the hits like an MMA professional in a bar fight.  This next feature comes from reader KC who has what appears to be at first glance a lightly modified MGB GT.  Appearances are deceiving because this thing is anything but lightly modified and it looks like a dream come true for an MGB GT enthusiast who doesn't want something stock.

Reader Ride: Gianni's Turismo Veloce

Time for another edition of DT's Reader Ride feature, which keeps coming back like a bad case of scabies.  This next feature comes from reader Gianni who has had the pleasure of owning this Alfa Romeo GTV for 22 years.  That is a long time to be steward of such a machine and if he ever feels the need to free himself of this considerable burden, we'd be happy to help.

Reader Ride: 1973 BMW 3.0CS

Time for another edition of DT's Reader Ride feature, which -- like an episode of toenail fungus -- comes free with purchase of your latest pair of used shoes.  This next feature comes from reader Ken whose E9 generation BMW 3.0CS is an absolute gem.

Reader Ride: 1982 Porsche 911SC

Time for another edition of DT's questionably named Reader Ride feature which was originally called Reader Rides, and alternatively Reader's Ride or Reader's Rides, but like a hungry bear in a campground -- tense don't matter. Anyway, we've decided to standardize on Reader Ride and this one is a winner -- reader Tamas' 1982 Porsche 911SC.

Reader Ride: Follow The White Rabbit

In Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the main character (Alice) follows a white rabbit (who is terrified of being late) down into his rabbit hole and to a magical placed called Wonderland.  Sometimes the white rabbit is really a white Volkswagen Rabbit and Wonderland is a place filled with Harbor Freight tools and endless repairs (car and/or tools repairs).  Reader Gianni (when properly pronounced it sounds just like Johnny -Ed) submitted his 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI to DT's Reader Ride feature and you can read more about it on his blog here.

Reader Ride: Sir Montalbon's 540iT

Time for another edition of Daily Turismo's Reader Rides, where reading or riding are optional and discouraged.  Today's subject comes to us from a regular DT commenter who goes by the name Sir Montalbon and has earned his title from an engine/trans swap in a long roof BMW.  Sir Mont's ride is a 1995 BMW 530i automatic wagon into which he swapped a 540i engine and 6-speed manual gearbox.

Reader Ride: Tom's Classic Volvos

Time for another edition of Daily Turismo's Reader Ride, its better than a back massage from Edward Scissorshands and, similarly, it's free!  This time from from Tom M. who sent us several photos of his sweet collection of Volvos and a BMW.  The 1800 is his classic, the Volvo 544 is his barn find and it looks like the M-Coupe is a daily driver.  Lucky dog!!

Reader Ride: MCB Drew's 1988 BMW M5

Time for another edition of Daily Turismo's Reader Rides, which is our equivalent of having a prison penpal without the risk of violence.  You may have seen this car over at Motoringconbrio when it was first purchased.  Drew is the editor, creative force, all around nice guy and BMW enthusiast behind motoringconbrio.com and sent us some photos of his e28 generation 1988 BMW M5.
