V8 Powered Mutant: 1961 Chevrolet Corvair

Is a V8 powered, front engine Corvair an abomination or an upgrade?  I'm sorta torn on that question, but I guess it is better to put a Chevy V8 powering the rear wheels than a transverse Buick V6 pushing power to the that would be a real weirdo.  Still...I can't help but think this thing needs some sorta pancake shaped enough hanging out back.  Find this 1961 Chevrolet Corvair offered for $8,500 in Harrison, AR via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

From the seller:
condition: excellent
cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
paint color: red
size: compact
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
type: coupe
350 Chevy Corvair Runs and Drives Fantastic.
Ford 9 rear on springs
Lots of custom body work.
I will trade for a nice Truck.

  1. Plus one for matching the DT red Corvair drawing.
I think that wing is a minus one though. Now a Chaparral 2E style wing would be cool, but that butt barnacle just doesn't look right.
