Happy Halloween: 1966 Buick Sport Wagon

The original Buick Sport Wagon was built on GM's A-Body platform shared with the Skylark and Special...but also the Chevrolet Chevelle, Malibu, El Camino, and Oldsmobile Cutlass, F-85...oh boy...we could be here for a while, let me skip to the end...the Buick Sport Wagon shared most of its bits with the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, including the sweet sweet vista windows that help rear passengers get sunburn on long drives and are impossible to replace if one this next car is probably worth more for the glass than anything.  But the rust makes it a legitimate horrorod.  Happy Halloween! Find this 1966 Buick Sport Wagon here on eBay bidding for $1,375 with buy-it-now of $1800 located in Pembina, ND.

Happy Halloween: 1966 Chevrolet Corvair V8 versus 1984 Pontiac Fiero V8

Happy Halloween!! On today's episode of What'll Kill You Quicker, we've got a'66 Corvair that's been de-clawed of its oversteer prone swing-axle suspension, but it is now sporting a front mounted V8 and enough custom shenanigans to keep you guessing the next failure mode for years...versus an '84 Fiero that has 20 year newer safety technology...but is still a plastic bodied piece of mid engined junk that now has a giant V8 shoved right behind your soft and squishy mammalian cortex.  What'll Kill You Quickest?

Former Embassy Car: 2004 Lincoln Town Car L

The 3rd and final generation of the Lincoln Town Car was built from 1998 through 2011 on a chassis shared with the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis/Marauder, and Hongqi Qijian.  Out of the million Town Cars built in this generation, a few were of the plus "long wheelbase" version that added 6 inches of rear seat legroom, and remote access to the climate control and radio. This particular long wheelbase Town Car was ostensibly used by a Moroccan Diplomat, but you will feel like royalty no matter your actual station in life when you ride in the back of this thing. Find this 2004 Lincoln Town Car L here on eBay offered for $4990 in Canton, GA.

Genuine High Emissions: 2004 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI

Long before Volkswagen was accused of cheating on emissions tests and giving the finger to the environment, they gave the finger to Sir Isaac Newton's second law of motion and entered into a project with Audi and Porsche to build an off road capable SUV that could accelerate like a sports car.  The result of this ambitious goal was the Volkswagen Group PL71 platform used by the Touareg (pronounced Twooar-egg), Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne -- and the apple fell sideways. Find this 2004 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI offered for $5,500 in Billings, MT via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

5-Speed Manual Box: 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a common sight on suburban roads today and was certainly more prevalent back in the 1990s before the Japanese introduced us to SUVs that were fuel efficient and reliable...but I digress.  With the death of the Grand Wagoneer after the 1991 model year, the Grand Cherokee was the top dog in Jeep's domestic lineup and most were sold with automatic gearboxes for regular folks, but a few hundred (over almost 20 years of production) left the factory with a manual box..and here is one.  Find this 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee offered for $4,500 in Albuquerque, NM via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

A Full 460 Woody: 1976 Ford LTD Country Squire

There are few things more liberating memorable than taking a full sized American station wagon on a cross country road trip.  Your suit cases are piled on the top, your kids are piled in the back, and a stack of maps is piled in the glovebox.  My parents had one of these when I was a kid and I can remember the miles just flying by...actually the rear was so rusty that we could actually see the miles zipping by its probably a miracle that we never died of carbon monoxide poisoning, thank a busted AC for windows always rolled down.  Ahhh...good times.  Make your own good times with this 1976 Ford Country Squire offered for $5,500 in Deposit, NY via hemmings. Tip from BP.

Straight-6 Slushbox: 1963 Ford Falcon Convertible

I'm gonna put my flame suit on and say the following: the V8 and 4-speed is overrated. Every other classic '60s American car that I see running around car shows is powered by a thumping V8 and many have the lauded 4-speed manual. Oooohh...ahhh...pssshaa, meh!  Those hot rod upgraded powertrain combos are great if you plan to go vintage racing or like to head to the drag strip, but most classic cars are just putted around town by old guys, so why not get something that'll get good fuel economy and isn't as common as pimples on a teenager.  Like a straight-6 mated to a..errr..2 or 3...let's just say several speed slushbox. Find this 1963 Ford Falcon Convertible offered for $15000 in Port Orchard, WA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Don't Call It A Turdcel: 1989 Toyota Tercel

What could be better than driving a high mile version of a classic Japanese coupe with a manual gearbox and some sweet 80s style?  Yeah...getting that same car with low miles and in mint condition for peanuts. Find this 1989 Toyota Tercel offered for $5700 in South San Francisco, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Head on a Pike: 1989 Nissan Pao

Whenever I find a Nissan Pike car (Pao, S-Cargo, Figaro, Be-1, K10-Micra) I find myself inexplicably writing about the car.  The Pike cars beat the New Beetle, New Mini, PT Cruiser to the retro-style market, but keeping everything in perspective --the old Mini had been retro-styled since about 1970, the Beetle since about 1960.  What was old is now new cetera. Find this 1989 Nissan Pao offered for $9300 in Burlingame, CA via craigslist.

French Fried Cheeseburger: 1984 Renault Alliance

If you ask an automotive lovin' kid today what he/she thinks about the Renault Alliance, they'll probably tell you that Carlos Ghosn was framed, but Nissan should run as far away from the French automaker as possible..but if you ask an old seasoned car guy, he/she will regale you with stories of Franco-Merican build quality, MotorTrend's 1983 Car of the Year Award, and arriving at their final destination on foot. Or perhaps I'm being a bit hard on the little Kenosha, Wisconsin assembled french fry, maybe you could be that guy at the next Friday night car show.  Find this 1984 Renault Alliance offered for $1100 in Milford, CT via hemmings.  Tip from BP.

Yamahahahaha: 1958 Berkeley SE492

Berkeley Cars Ltd out of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England had a short run of low-priced sporty microcars starting back in 1956 and ultimately ending in bankruptcy in 1960.  Unfortunately, the company was just starting to get their formula of front-wheel-drive motorcycle powered fiberglass things with cars like the Sports SE492 when their main business (building Glass-reinforced plastic "caravans") when belly up.  Luckily, you can get a basket case Berkeley for cheap and you can even find examples that have reliable engine swap from a Japanese sport bike. Find this 1958 Berkeley SE492 offered for $6900 in Morgan Hill, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Mobster Approved: 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille

This next car isn't the car that Robert De Niro's character (Ace Rothstein) drove in Casino, because that was an El Dorado...but it probably has similar bomb absorbing underbody panels and is so seriously gangster that I can't help but smile.  This is the kind of car that a gangster like Vito Genovese or Crazy Joe Gallo would drive. Find this 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille offered for $6,500 in Pasadena, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Seller Submission: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition

This next car comes as a friend of the seller submission from Tim C who tells us that he is trying to help a friend who is quite ill sell his Corvette. He can no longer drive.  He wanted $70k for the car, now it's at $59k and might have to go lower.  The C8 isn't helping.  I've tried twice to use BAT but they won't accept the car, saying it's too new.  Do you think it's worth giving it a try on DT?  Let's help the seller out -- while it does exceed the normal DT cheapskate pricing limit, it is a very special car offered for a price approaching 1/2 of the new MSRP with only 1400 miles on the odo, but as Tim said...this car is now two generations old and the mid engine C8 isn't helping.  Find this 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition offered for $59k here on DailyTurismo located somewhere near Santa Cruz, California.  Send an email to if you want the contact info for the seller.

Beasty Boat: 2007 Lincoln Navigator L

I don't know how often you guys drive new cars, but I'm always impressed at the way the new large vehicles drive -- they don't have the ponderous heft that 6000 lb trucks had from a few years ago...maybe its modern technology, maybe its some magic, but it is nice...not nice enough to justify the monstrous price tag when new...but wait 10-12 years and might make sense.  Take the third generation Lincoln Navigator, for instance -- it rides on the Ford F-150/Expedition chassis and seats 7 people in supreme comfort.  A basic rugged SOHC 5.4 liter Triton V8 pushes power to an independent rear end (did the Navigator REALLY get IRS before the Mustang...sheesh) and the long wheelbase version is the one to get.  Find this 2007 Lincoln Navigator L here on eBay offered for $11,495 buy-it-now located in Stafford, TX.

Custom Sleeper Cab: 2004 Ford E-450

A real semi truck isn't easy to own/drive unless you are a trucker and live outside the city limits.  Most modern urban planners banned parking Class-8 Heavy Duty trucks on the street...not to mention that fact that they are huge and get about 7 mpg...but this next Class-4 beast offers some of the utility of a real truck (5th wheel 16,000 lbs towing capacity) with a sleeper cab and light duty turbocharged Powerstroke V8. You won't be able to haul 33,000 lbs of industrial waste, but you can drive your kids to school and go take a nap in the sleeper near the beach. Find this 2004 Ford E-450 Sleeper Cab here on eBay offered for $5,995 buy-it-now located in Cortland, NY

One of a Kind: 1964 Opel Kadett Wagon

Every custom car builder claims that his or her car is "one of a kind" but for the most part...they aren't.  Custom trike Fiero..yup, dime-a-dozen, Subaru with a domestic V8 swap..common-as-muck, Porsche 968 with Mazda Rotary swaa....ok...that one was one-of-a-kind...but so is today's next feature, because very few people in this world would dream of taking one of the few remaining intact Opel Kadett wagons and turning them into a V8 powered drag strip machine that you pilot from the back seat. Find this 1964 Opel Kadett here on eBay offered for $5,500 buy-it-now in Enfield, CT with 3 days to go.

Repeat Offender: 1978 Datsun 280Z V8 Custom

This next car comes as a tip from JB1025 who calls it Dat-Vette Custom V8 and says; Not everybody's cup of tea but looks well done could not build for this...but hang on just one minute...we've seen this car before.  Find this 1978 Datsun 280Z V8 Custom offered for $8,500 in Tukwila (funny...those wheels could use some tuck..hah!), WA via craigslist.
