Seller Submission: 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL W116

In 1973 Mercedes-Benz introduced the legendary W116 S-Class to wealthy buyers around the world.  In case you are curious, the S is short for Sonderklasse, or Special Class, as in, unless you have a special ability to earn money, you can't afford this.  Today, the W116 chassis is known for its low startup costs, incredibly durable interior materials, tank-like build quality and expensive parts/labor costs if something major goes wrong.  Find this 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL offered for $6,400 in Moon Valley, AZ via craigslist. Seller submission from Daniel.

1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL. 4.5l V8 Original Arizona Survivor Car. Purchased new at Phoenix Motor Company. 113k miles. No rust and very clean condition. I believe the car has been garaged since new. European Bumper and headlight conversion. Working climate control with cold air and hot heat. I purchased this car from the estate of the original owner in 2016. Since then I have done a long list of repairs and upgrades to make this car what if is today. Comprehensive list available of completed work for interested buyers: included is new front brake calipers, rotors, pads and master cylinder. New AC compressor with fresh R12 recharge. Lots of other new parts. Too much to list.

Mercedes collector and enthusiast owned. I have too many cars and I need the garage space.

Clean and notarized AZ Title

  1. I never understood those super dark tints but really looking nice, otherwise.

    1. Ever spend a summer in Phoenix?? Anything to cut down the sun's penetration into the interior is welcome. But, I'm with you, looks a little too early 90's for me.
The car is beautiful and that tint comes right off! :)

    2. Owner of the car here. Tint is actually a weak spot on the car. I considered removing it, but the heat here... especially in the summer is BRUTAL. The AC works well, but love keeping the cabin as cool as possible when its 110 out.

      Thanks for the feedback!

    3. If you have to spend your life in Phoenix, the darkest tint possible is the only way to survive in a car. Besides you can pretend you are an Iraqi dictator. Sweet car

    4. Just wanna say, I grew up in LA and TX and never felt the need for a tint. I take your word for the necessity of it in AZ, however. Sweet car, cheers.
