13B Powered Oddball: 1990 Maxton Rollerskate

This next car is for the guy/gal who thinks that the Autozam AZ1 is too big, the Lotus Europa is too common, the Caterham 7 is too safe, and the Bugeye Sprite is too pretty.  It is also, in the words of tipper Hugh, "unobtanium" -- but offered for a basic price. Find this 1990 Maxton Rollerskate offered for $16,500 in Longmont, CO via craigslist. Tip from Hugh.

From the seller:
1990 Maxton
condition: excellent
cylinders: other
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
paint color: red
title status: clean

One of 52 special cars created in Englewood CO by industrialist and automobile collector Robert Sutherland. Designed by Ben van der Linden (ex Carroll Shelby, SCCA engineer) and styled by Michael Mate (Road & Track and Colorado Concours d'Elegance artist).

Powered by Mazda twin rotor 13B engine (240hp), RX-7 5-speed, rack and pinion, beautiful jig-welded square tube space frame, molded fiberglass body with a total weight of 1,680 lbs (0-60 in 5.86 secs, top speed of 127 mph). Its performance rivals Alfa Romeo, Corvette, Ferrari, Healey, Lotus, MGB, Porsche, Triumph and Colorado's only other built auto, the famous Bocar.
Mine is a two-owner car with only 5K miles, one thousand of which were driven in the inaugural Colorado Grand Vintage Tour. Featured in Road & Track, Autoweek, Vintage Motorsport, Sportscar International, Classics and Sportscar and many other publications which hailed it as a fast, reliable and unique sports two-seater.

Fully documented including official factory service and parts manuals and cutaway drawings, dealers' sales brochures, spares, canvas top and tonneau.
Does NOT require emissions test. See also the official MAXTON website (maxtonrollerskate.com) for a full history of this historical Colorado marque. Fairly priced at $16,500 or nearest intelligent offer. Call (NO TEXTS) or email if seriously interested.

  2. I was one of the original 6 MAXTON dealers. I have the original color, 4 page MAXTON brochure, 8x11 and the VHS sales video that I converted to DVD. It's about 9 minutes long.
Asking $15.00 for both, shipping included.
