Fiat Munday: 1972 Fiat 500 Lusso

If the marketing wanks at Hallmark are able to make up fake holidays, then we here at DT are equally qualified to create opportunities for commerce and profit.  Therefore, I declare today, the day after Mother's Day to be henceforth known furthermore as "Fiat Munday".  And YES, the spelling is "Munday" to differentiate it from all of the mundane Monday holidays out in the world. This first feature on Fiat Munday is a 1972 Fiat 500 offered for $8000 in Overland Park, KS via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

From the seller:
1972 FIAT 500
VIN: 110F3090402
condition: good
cylinders: other
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 45000
paint color: red
size: sub-compact
title status: clean
transmission: manual
type: coupe
1972 FIAT 500L

This fantastic little car runs well and is so much fun to drive. It turns heads and gets honks and waves wherever it goes. 4 speed manual transmission. Interior is clean and complete. Seats are in good shape. Exterior has intact trim as you can see from the photos. All glass is intact and crack free. Fuel efficiency estimated in the 30-40 mpg range (4.5 gallon tank!). Odometer reads in kilometers and currently reads 00950 (I assume it has rolled over 100,000) Speedometer displays kilometers/ hour (kph). This is the Lusso (Luxury) model. Hence the 500L designation. Has clear Kansas Antique Title. Also comes with shop manual and owner's instruction manual. I have begun the restoration process with the following:

Brand new tires/ tubes
New front wheel bearings (directly from Italy!)
Rebuilt carburetor
New fuel pump/ filter
Restored/ cleaned gas tank
New fuel sending unit
New oil pressure switch
Complete brake overhaul including hoses/ drums/ master cylinder/ brake assembly
New ignition rotor/ cap/ points/ condenser
New battery
New instrument panel bulbs/ restored interior lighting

All work performed/ warrantied by Adam Vega's Automotive (a great local shop in Lenexa).
