Modified VR6: 1996 Volkswagen GTI MkIII

Golf enthusiasts tend to gravitate towards the early MkI/II examples or a later model that has all the dual-clutch gizmos that the kids want in their cars these days, so the MkIII Golf is a bit of a forgotten classic -- known only to a die hard group of people who probably inherited the Golf from their parents or don't know that Japan made cars in the mid 90s...ANYWAY, the MkIII Golf and its sporty GTI brother is a good deal on the used market. Find this 1996 Volkswagen GTI MkIII offered for $4,200 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

  2. 16 inch wheels and lowering springs? My kidneys say "No thanks!". Very clean car, though, and probably a lot of fun in a state without front heaves and potholes.

  3. Fun ride for the money. Diggin' the seats. Is the bandana around the steering column a thing or...?

    1. It is for you to hand to your smokin' hot babe girlfriend, to start any impromptu drag races you might get challenged to.

  5. Huge win. This has a bunch of goodies at a stellar price. I think I'd rather have this than my own mildly modified and comparable MkI. I'd love a VR6, more interior space, and plaid. Damn, this one pains me. I doubt it will be available for long.

  6. Ooooo...I would love to get this for “my son” but I don’t think his mom would dig me putting him in a car with zero airbags
