DIY Campsite: 1987 Freightliner FLU-419 Unimog Small Emplacement Excavator

I'd love to own an RV and go glamping with the family, but my biggest problem is that the RVs that can get you to the best campsites won't always pack the right amount of gear and the big RVs won't let you get to the premium spots before they are all taken for the weekend.  If only they built a vehicle that can reach the best campsites, and bulldoze the ground as needed to secure a flat spot for your tent. Find this 1987 Freightliner FLU-419 Unimog Small Emplacement Excavator here on eBay bidding for $13,500 in Cookeville, TN with 3 days to go.

  2. Didn't know freightliner made these...
Unimog's axles are higher than the center of the wheels for still more ground clearance.

  3. I wasn't aware that these were manufactured as Freightliners either. Daimler AG own's Mercedes and Freightliner so it's just badge engineering.

  4. That's true currently, but in the early 2000's at least, Freightliner was owned by Chrysler, so I figure that is how Daimler currently has them. 1987? I dunno.

  5. About 10 or so years ago, I remember a government auction site had a bunch of these up for auction. Very cool rig!

  6. What does No Reserve but No Lowballers mean? I thought no reserve meant lowballers welcome.
