Pan de Molde: 2007 Mag International C-Mag

You know you've found something special when you can't even pronounce it's name correctly.  And you might be tempted to call this next beast by its 'Mericanized name, but it is a Hafei Zhongyi that was penned by Pininfarina and built by Hafei Motor Co in Heilongjiang province of China. Find this 2007 Mag International C-Mag offered for $4500 in Encinitas, CA via craigslist.

From the seller:

AWESOME & RARE STREET LEGAL 2007 MAG INTERNATIONAL MICRO VAN!

ASKING $4,500 OBO

HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO OWN MY SUPER RAD MICRO VAN - I CAN NO LONGER PROPERLY CARE FOR IT AND DRIVE IT DUE TO A STROKE I SUFFERED LAST YEAR.

ITS THE ULTIMATE LITTLE SURF VEHICLE - I GET ENDLESS THUMB'S UPS AND SMILES - SO FUN!

HERE IS THE SKINNY ON THIS:

IT IS 100% STREET LEGAL AND LICENSED.

PARTS ARE SUPER EASY TO COME BY - I'LL GIVE YOU ALL OF THAT INFO

- MILEAGE IS AT 3,999 KILOMETERS, BUT REALLY ABOUT AN EST 5,000 MILES - THAT'S IT!
- RUNS LIKE A CHAMP
- INSANELY GOOD MILEAGE FROM IT'S WHOPPING 42 HP, 995 CC ENGINE!
- IT ACTUALLY GOES 70 ON THE FREEWAY! I EVEN TOOK IT CAMPING UP IN SAN CLEMENTE!
- HAS A BRAND-NEW ARB AWNING INSTALLED (WAS $320)
- GREAT CONDITION YAKIMA RACK WITH BIN ($500+)
- REAR BENCH SEAT PULLED FROM A FORD E250
- TIRES HAVE ABOUT 95% ON THEM
- I BUILT A CUSTOM REAR STORAGE WITH PULL-OUT TRAY FOR COOLER, WETSUITS, ETC ETC
- BASICALLY I JUST USED THIS TO GO TO THE BEACH

A FEW MINOR - MINOR - CONS (THINGS THAT NEED TO BE FINE-TUNED / FIXED):

1. SOME OF THE DOOR LOCK COVERS CAME OFF - I HAVE THE NEW ONES, JUST NEED TO PUT ON

2. THE INSIDE DRIVER'S DOOR PANEL JUST NEEDS TO BE OUT BACK ON

3. THE DRIVER'S DOOR JAMS A BIT - AGAIN, YOU JUST NEED TO ADJUST THE LOCK AND PANEL

4. THE BACK DOOR GOT JAMMED SHUT BECAUSE THE LOCK BROKE. I HAVE TRIED TO JIMMY IT
OPEN BUT, DUE TO MY STROKE, I CANNOT DEAL WITH IT.

5. I GOT THE THING IN ITS ORIGINAL WHITE... IT WAS UGLY AND HAD SOME SURFACE RUST SO
I SANDED IT PROPERLY AND SPRAYED IT WITH SEVERAL COATS OF 2IN1 GREY PRIMER. IT IS
WHAT IT IS - BUT IF YOU WANT A NICE CHEAP PAINT JOB, EARL SCHEIB IS JUST A FEW
HUNDRED

SO, JUST NEED MINOR STUFF AND I HAVE ALL OF THE PIECES - YOU CAN THROW AN AUTO GUY A COUPLE HUNDRED AND THEY WILL DEAL WITH IT : )

PRICE IS BASED UPON THE EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE; THE RARITY; THE SURF RACKS AND AWNING; THE FACT THAT YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO FIND ONE LIKE IT HERE.

I PAID $6,000 TWO YEARS AGO WITH BALD, DEAD TIRES; NO RACK OR AWNING; AND NO COOLNESS FACTOR AT ALL.

AGAIN, I LOVE THIS THING AND EVERYONE - EVERYONE - WHO SEES IT HAS THE BIGGEST SMILE

  1. OK, how is this legal? I'd buy it right now,but there's way I'd be able to register it in new York...

  2. Not just legal, but apparently legal in California. Really?!? Inquiring minds want to know.....

    1. I had the same skepticism when I saw it is a 2007 Chinese vehicle, yet "licensed". Highly unlikely it's legal for license/registration in California, even though it's being sold in Encinitas (SoCal). Notice the Montana license plate? I think that's the loophole. I'm assuming Montana smog laws are looser or minimal. Good luck to the next chump who buys it and then finds out he can't get it registered in the state. Better have friends or family in another state that are willing to lend you their mailbox.
