4-Speed Needs TLC: 1973 Chevrolet Corvette C3

The plastic bumper C3 generation Corvette is not the most desirable of cars to have proudly displayed the crossed flags emblem, but if your budget is less than $10k and you don't like the plain looking C4...then the C3 is your best choice...or you can get this crusty looking "chrome bumper" Vette and apply some elbow grease.  Find this 1973 Chevrolet Corvette offered for $7300 in Trumbull, CT via craigslist. From Cory.

  1. A little elbow grease and this could be pretty nice. IMHO this is one of the best looking versions of the C3 too with the chrome bumpers and buttressed rear window.

  2. The rear bumper is the only chrome bumper on the '73s. That paint color looks like the standard MAACO maroon that ended up on many of the cars they repainted during the 80's. Prior to acquiring this one, it would be wise to see what version of the 350 is in there as it could be the lowly L-48 which had less than 200HP but had the upside of being common to Chevelles/Malibu's etc, which means accessory bolt-ons like water pump, distributor, etc are way cheaper and can still be built up.

  3. Drove one of these once.

    Was amazed.

How did GM engineer truck like handling in a car sitting 3 inches off the ground?
