What Am I? Latching

Welcome back to another episode of DT's infamous What Am I? -- the quiz where you get to show your esoteric car knowledge and everybody is a winner.  Wait...that's not right, this game is like competitive Olympic curling, there can ONLY be one winner and she is a smokin that's not right either...ANYWAY, solve this puzzle. What Am I?

What am I? Comments below.

  1. Volvo 122S (Amazon) coupe, rear window latch.

  2. I don't have a guess, but I have a new favourite game: find the most awesome picture on the list of "visually similar images" when you drop the DT What-am-I picture into Google Image Search. Here is one that came up for today's image:

  3. Sure reminds me of the latch on a variety of Brit cars. MG 1100, MGBGT, various Triumphs.

  4. early Porsche 911/912 back seat window latches

  5. The 122s held onto the chromed frame. This is identicle to the '65 to 77 Beetle rear window lartch except for having a white handle. The pre '64 had a black handle and were constructed differently from this one. Bogus repop?

  6. early Porsche 911/912 back seat window latches

  7. Sure looks like a Beetle latch to me.

  8. Late 60's to mid-70's Alfa Romeo GTV rear window latch. LHS

  9. 1963-1977 Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupés rear window latch.

    Something like this:
