SCCA Solo2 Class Winner: 1972 Volvo 1800ES

I love a car that comes with a story.  Or a log book.  Or any vintage pictures from when it was in its prime...and this next car comes with an SCCA log book, and pics from when it was Solo2 champion in EP class.  Yeah.  The conversation with the owner when you pick this beast up will be worth the price of admission.  Find this 1972 Volvo 1800ES here on eBay bidding for $560 with 3 days to go, located in Jacksonville, FL.

From the seller:
This is a car that I used to race. It has the following:

LSD differential
5 gal tank
Kirkey seat
full cage
dome top pistons
double valve springs
nylon front bushing
koi adjustable shocks
400# springs in front
full race cam
spare block and head
steel crank gear
aluminum flywheel
4-2-1 header
probably a few things I forgot to mention

I won first place in SCCA Solo2 the second year in EP in this car. It comes with the trailer.

Now the not so good:

little rusty but still solid. Cracked block. Been sitting for several years. Probably needs new rings. Trailer needs 4 new wheels and tires

See a better way to start restoring vintage SCCA racers?

  1. I can smell the inside of that car from here.

  2. Are those Swedish Fish shocks.....Koi ?

  3. The trailer is rustier than the car! All of the windows are perspex in the rare opaque style.

  4. Well, at least they closed it up nice and tight before storing it outside. Oh, wait.

I'll never quite understand how this sort of thing happens.
