Cummins Diesel Power: 1972 Chevrolet C-10

I've been on a diesel kick in the last few months -- something about the glackity-glack of an idling oil burner mixed with the wheeeeeeeeeeeee of a spooling turbo has some strange appeal.  It has been sticking with me like the sweet aroma of diesel fuel C12H24, and I want this next beast.  Find this 1972 Chevrolet C-10 offered for $14,500 here on eBay buy-it-now or make-offer located in Riverside, CA.

Original Paintina: 1970 Chevrolet Impala Kingswood Wagon

This next car is offered as an original paintwork classic, which would make it something that you'd want to do an interior refresh on, and stop the rust...but don't repaint! The interior is nasty and those floorboards need a full inspection...but I'm thinking this is a nice price unless it is a total Flintstones mobile. Find this 1970 Chevrolet Impala Kingswood Wagon offered here on eBay for $4999 buy-it-now located in Ontario, CA.

That's A Lotta Cam: 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1

I'm not going to sit here and pontificate on which cars will be worth beaucoup bucks in the future..but I will tell you that there aren't many special edition Corvettes with monster performance available for $10k anywhere around the globe.  Find this 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 offered for $10,500 in San Fernando Valley, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Pre War Hot Rod: 1932 Ford Model A

If you tried driving a stock Model A around in modern traffic, you would certainly find yourself terrified being swarmed by grandmas and overly aggressive Uber drivers (sometimes one and the same!), but on the other hand a more modern Chevy 350 powered hot rod is seriously played out. Head for the middle ground and get a classic pre-war style rod instead. Find this 1930 Ford Model A here on eBay bidding for $13,000 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located somewhere in the Midwest.

The Red Baron: 1967 Ford F100

Who says a classic pickup truck needs a beefy V8 to be cool?  Errr...well...probably a lot of folk, but they'd be wrong to ignore the appeal of a slant-6 mated to a simple 3-speed manual.  Find this 1967 Ford F100 offered for $3,500 in Little Orleans, MD via craigslist. Tip from Jeff S.

Longitudinal Wrong Wheel Drive: 1993 Acura Vigor GS

I've got to be careful, because I might be categorized as a nut by this next statement...but...this next car needs to be saved from teenagers and owned by a proper enthusiast who will treat it nicely.  Yeah.  I'm starting to be one of those people who writes: "will only sell to a good home, no drunks, no flippers!" in a craigslist advert...but how many original 5-speed Japanese cars with longitudinal 175 hp SOHC inline-5s are still on the road and haven't been run into the ground by the original owners kids/friends/enemies yet?  Not many.  Find this 1993 Acura Vigor GS offered for $4750 in Gilbert, AZ via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

What Am I? Paneled

It is Monday and the What Am I? quiz is BACK with a vengeance....and my apologies for being light with the special features, but life has been busy recently.  Have a shot at glory and tell me the car in this pic.

Orange Juiced: 1995 Tropica by Renaissance Cars

If you are anything like the average car guy, you must remember the mid 90s electric sports car called the Tropica -- it was...okay...yeah...I got nothin. Zip, zitch, nada. No recollection of anything electric with Corvette tail lights and a limited run of 16 cars, some of which ended up in the private collection of Don Johnson, who put them on the small screen in "Nash Bridges"...but I've got to admit that this could have been a totally made up background story.  Find this 1995 Tropica by Renaissance Cars offered for $5555 in Laguna Beach, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Secret Sauce: 1994 Geo Tracker

This next Geo Tracker is an ugly little mutt of a convertible and covered with green paint plus an assortment of speed why is it featured on these pages?  Was it owned by a celebrity? It is super low miles with a ludicrous asking price?  Or does it have a small block Chevy V8 under the hood...yes, that is the thing. Find this 1994 Geo Tracker with small block Chevy V8 offered for $8500 in Crystal Springs, MS via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Pint Five Point Oh- 1973 Ford Pinto

The Ford Pinto was the idea of future auto legend and then Ford president Lee Iaccoca.  With a target weight of 2000 lbs, the Pinto was supposed to be a lightweight import fighter, but instead suffered the inglorious fate of being the butt of jokes for twenty years due to the company neglecting a known fuel tank design flaw .  The unloved but successful selling second generation Ford Mustang was actually based off of the Pinto.  Today's Pinto builder channeled their inner Xzibit and pimped out their ride with a bored over 5.0 engine, beefy driveline, flame paint scheme, side pipes, big sound system, and enough street glow lighting to cover three Christmas trees.  Find this 1973 Ford Pinto for sale in Branchburg, NJ for a hefty $17,000 via craigslist.

Autocross This One Off The List: 1979 Volkswagen Scirocco

Why are we so obsessed with fast street cars?  Fast cars like a new Z06/Z07 Vette are fantastic on paper, but are entirely too fast for the average street and too expensive to take out on a what should a gearhead do?  Easy -- get into autocross, but do it with something interesting/older/slower like this 1979 Volkswagen Scirocco offered for $6,000 in Reading, PA via craigslist.

Help Us Decide Which Cars To Blog About!

CFlo's State of the Fleet Address

Here at the DT offices double-wide in the sky, it seems everyone has some sort of cool project car, wacky daily driver, or cheap performance machine. I think I might be the most deranged though, because at any given moment I need more than two full hands of fingers to count all the different project cars and needy old machinery sucking my time and attention. And I haven't lost any fingers...yet. Unfortunately I don't have the resources to write about everything I work on. This is where you come in!

Not Your Grandpa's Granada: 1975 Ford Granada Ghia

The Ford Granada was released in 1975 on Ford's compact chassis that traced its roots back to the 1960 release of the Falcon. The Granada was intended to replace the Maverick, but the Maverick survived as a low-rent econbox and the Granada slotted up-market to offer a fuel economy friendly alternative to the LTD or a cheap T-Bird when equipped with 2 doors and the big 351 Windsor V8. Find this smog exempt 1975 Ford Granada Ghia offered for $5500 in Palm Desert, CA via craigslist.

Grand Tourer: 1993 BMW 525i Wagon 5-Speed

The E34 generation BMW 5-series was available as a sedan in 525i, 530i, 540i, and M5 versions...but if you wanted the wagon you had to settle for 525i/530i versions only in North America...and to make matters worse, you couldn't even get a manual gearbox, unless you get a modified one like this next feature.  Find this 1993 BMW 525i Wagon 5-Speed offered for $5000 in Denver, CO via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Thursday Twister: Trouble Makers

Today's Thursday Twister comes from Erik202 who writes: I had an idea for a Thursday Twister, maybe this one has already been done but i was wondering what the most fantastically unreliable car you can get in the DT price range is. Or maybe the most unreliable car you've owned, IDK, basically the opposite of discussing volvos and roadmasters and cars that will give you half a million miles without trouble...

Toyota 4AGE Power: 1979 Triumph Spitfire

The Triumph Spitfire is a very small British roadster named after an iconic WWII fighter, the highest production British airplane of all time.  The Spitfire vehicle didn't quite achieve the same success as its namesake fighter plane, but it does have a decent cult following and gets lively if you up the horsepower from the spinning parts.  Find this 1979 Triumph Spitfire with Toyota 4AGE TwinCam Power offered for $10,000 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

Wood You? 1988 Buick Electra Estate Wagon

This next car comes as a tip from Art C who writes: Wood grain, velour, anemic V8 and some of the finest exhaust fumes to waft through an open rear window this side of chernobyl. Whats not to like? Here ya go. You had me at Chernobyl. Find this 1988 Buick Electra Estate Wagon offered for $1800 in Cranston, RI via craigslist.

Last of the Manuals: 2011 BMW 535i

Seven years isn't a long time in the life of a car.  I've daily driven cars with twice that age, so to buy a car from 2011 and drive it every sounds like almost new to a guy like me.  The asking price on this one seemed suspiciously low until I checked KBB and verified that a $50k car loses 80% of its original asking price in the first 7 years. Find this 2011 BMW 535i offered for $10,700 in Sacramento, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.
