DT 5.0 Twice as nice: 2000 Honda S2000

The second car posted to good old DT was a 2000 Honda S2000.  That car was a silver S2000 for sale in Denver, CO with 80K miles and needing a new top for a $11,200 ask.  Fast forward 5 years and here is a 28K mile cream puff for your compare and contrast pleasure.  Find this 2000 Honda S2000 for sale in San Diego, CA for $21,500 via craigslist.  This post is part of DT's 5th Birthday Celebration.

5 years ago the technology used for embedding images in Blogger posts seems to have been less than mature, so the pictures for post #2 have disappeared into the ether.  So there is no way short of asking Mr. Peabody to really compare that car with today's specimen.  And what a fine specimen it is.  This car might really be worth SHOUTING ABOUT IN ALL CAPS.  That being said, it is said to be an all original shape California car with no modifications and a CLEAN TITLE.  I added the caps for that myself, as when I was searching for a 2000 S2000, most of them seamed to either have been hacked modified to within an inch of their life by a flat brimmer or had a rebuilt title.

I don't think I have to educate you on the superbike-like power plant of the S2000.  This being a first generation AP1 car, it has smaller engine with the lofty-er redline as well as the twitchier suspension tuning.  As you would expect for a low mileage car from a sunny area, it looks like if you ate off it, you'd mess it up.

Inside the leather looks unblemished by bums and there is a proper manual transmission.  Unlike the top for the car from 5 years ago, the top for this is said to be in pristine condition.  Being a pre-2002 car, it does have a plastic vs. glass rear window.

  1. strange ad in that the guy USES ALL CAPS and seems to be a dealer posing as a private party, which is a red flag for most folks
