KGB Black: 1979 Lada 2101 Zhiguli

The Lada/VAZ 2101 was compact sedan built by AvtoVAZ starting in 1970 for Eastern Bloc needs.  It doesn't have the reliability of a classic German car, the handling of a British classic, or the speed of something domestic, but it has the undeniable cool factor of a Soviet sedan.  Find this 1979 Lada 2101 Zhiguli offered for $10,500 in Marco Island, FL via craigslist.  Tip from Dascpcu.

From the seller:

1979 Lada 21011 Zhiguli from Russia. $10,500.

- Full repaint (KGB black). No dings/dents. Tan leather interior.
- Full airbag suspension (raise/lower car).
- Aftermarket stereo, 4 speakers with USB/MP3.
- Truck Horn.
- White wall tires.

The car is in great shape for being almost 40 years old. Runs good, looks awesome. Like any antique car, it has a few quirks.

Car was imported here from Moscow this year and was a 1 owner for nearly 40 years. Now it's currently located in Marco Island, Florida. Titled, registered and USA legal. Any questions, please email me.

  3. Identical to a Fiat 123, even made with Fiat tooling. Built to spec, rust to spec.

    1. Yep, these were sold here in the Glorious Peoples' Republic of Canuckistan, and we used to refer to them as "Fiat 124s, built in the dark". Awful build quality, but certainly simple and robust mechanically. The only Italian feature that survived the transition was the rust.
