Fastback Style: 1974 MG MGB GT

When you add the GT designation to something like a Mustang, it means you get a V8, but with the classic MGB it means you got a hardtop.  Torsional rigidity and weatherproofing goes up when you add the Pininfarina designed greenhouse, but the best part is you get a fastback lift-gate to maximize your storage access and cool factor. Find this 1974 MG MGB GT offered for $5,800 in Denver, CO via craigslist. Tip from Zach Z.

The GT hardtop version of the popular MGB sports car sold about 125,000 units through its 15 year production run.  Under the hood is a 1.8 liter OHV inline-4 rated at 91 horsepower and 98 ft-lbs of torque which isn't the biggest/greatest thing to ever be shoved under a hood, but you can keep up with modern traffic and it won't break down very often.

  1. Having a thing for the directory assistance operator is rare enough much less getting a license plate proclaiming it for all the world to see.

    Maybe Nick Lowe's old car?

Switchboard Susan, won't you give me a line?
    I need a doctor, give me 999
First time I picked up the telephone
I fell in love with your ringing tone

    I'm a long distance romancer
I keep on trying till I get an answer
    Gimme gimme one more chance
    She's a greater little operator

Switchboard Susan, let me off the hook
I've been this way since you give me your look
Switchboard Susan, you're all the rage
Come on sugar, let's get engaged

    I'm a long distance romancer
I keep on trying till I get an answer
    Gimme gimme one more chance
    She's a greater little operator

Said I'm a long distance romancer
I keep on trying till I get an answer
    Gimme gimme one more chance
    She's a greater little operator

When I'm near you girl, I get an extension
And I don't mean Alexander Graham Bell's invention
Switchboard Susan, can we be friends?
    After six, at weekends

    I'm a long distance romancer
I keep on trying till I get an answer
    Gimme gimme one more chance
    She's a greater little operator
