Ford V6 Power: 1972 Volkswagen Camper

Something must be in the water, because it isn't often that you'll find a vintage Volkswagen camper for a decent price, It wasn't that long ago that the VW Type 2 was the vehicle of choice for hippies, derelicts, and communists because they were almost free, but finding one for $7,500 is a good deal today.  Find this 1972 Volkswagen Camper offered for $7,500 in North Port, FL via craigslist.  Tip from Dascpcu.

This Type 2 is no longer powered by some anemic flat-4 from Volkswagen and instead is powered by an anemic V6 from Ford.  The Ford Essex V6 should be an upgrade in both power and torque from the original Volkswagen engine, but only because it should add a good liter or two in displacement.

The seller adds that the car has "small spots of rust here and there but it is not RUSTY", so it could be a good starting place for a budget camper.

See another cheap Bus?

  1. No true hippie, derelict or communist (small c)would pay the insane prices that former young, Up With People Nixonites are now paying for pre-'68 busses to pretend that they are not the square dipshts they always were. That said I would put ( being all knowing) the post '71 long lights in a different category. This might be a fun project but even this price for a bastardized later iteration camper is a bit mucch for this kulak.
