Cowlabunga Dude! 1986 Pontiac Fiero V8

A cowl induction hood is designed to capture the high pressure air that is being forced over the windshield and force some of it into your engine compartment and, presumably, into your engine to make more of the boom-boom zoom-zoom.  Hillbillies, F-body aficionados, and fiberglass hood repair men love them...but..I can't really imagine why you'd stick one on the front of a mid-engined car? Find this 1986 Pontiac Fiero V8 offered for $8,500 in Niles, IN via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

The Pontiac Fiero was GM's attempt at entering the mid-engine sports car market..and it did a lot of things right.  It had composite body panels, decent looks, and an appetite for corners (at least in the later GT versions with upgraded suspension)...but was ultimately held back by questionable engine choices like the iron duke 4-banger or a 2.8 liter pushrod V6.  There was no way the GM brass were going to let a Pontiac upstage the Vette (cough cough Banshee...cough) so the Fiero never got the V8 it deserved...until now.

  1. *cough-cough* Grand National as well! Here's an idea GM... put something with more BALLS as standard in the Vette so when it comes time for a far like the Fiero you have room to breath on it a little more and make it more attractive. Oh wait, my comment is late by a few decades......

  2. I can't figure out how the headlights work unless you have to stop and remove the hood? Or are they the ones that look like foglights in the bumper?
