Thursday Twister: Best and Worst

For this week's Thursday Twister, I want you to find the best car and the worst car on your local craigslist (or ebay) using the keyword "custom."  Good luck!

For my local craigslist, the best I could find was this 1972 Buick Skylark offered in Redondo Beach for $8,500 -- only has some issues, nothing major according to the seller.

The worst is this 1996 Ford Econoline Van offered for $400 out in Joshua Tree, CA via craigslist.  It isn't a bad deal -- $400 for a van that has custom painted landscapes on the side...but the "worst" part is that you are going to get murdered when you show up with your $400.  Take a look at the back -- that is where they are going to lock you (notice that the security screen is on the inside of the windows...) and then take you out to some empty stretch of desert and dig a hole.  Maybe you'll dig your own hole.  Who knows.

What is your best and worst?

    1. Certainly the worst photos! And it's a shame, cuz I would like to figure out just how awful this thing really is. Hard to judge from what the seller posted.

    2. The absolute best part of that posting is the "Cobra" air cleaner 'hovering' uselessly over the valley between the carbs!!

  9. While there are over 1,500 options to chose from when searching "custom" in my neck of the woods I'm choosing one I believe COULD be negotiated down to DT pricing because oh my, it gives me the tingling:

    [image src="https://images.craigslist.org/00V0V_3Jtc4GVFE5F_600x450.jpg" width="400px"/]

And thought many worthy candidates could be the "worst" I have to go with this guy:

    [image src="https://images.craigslist.org/00x0x_iugGGArk1Kx_600x450.jpg" width="400px"/]

There is just something about asking four times concourse-condition value for a not great example of a vehicle that ruffles my feathers. Sorry your engine broke bro, replacing it didn't quadruple the value of your car. Also, that grammar flub at the end slays me.

  10. This was a tough choice in Atlanta, with many good and bad candidates. This is the one I happened to like best as a custom: A '36 Chevy pickup street rod. The only thing that looks out of place are the Taz floor mats, and that's easily remedied.

There were a number of good definitions of worst, but I'm going with this ad for its extremely delusional pricing.

This may be the nicest 2002 Buick Century in existence, but I still don't think that justifies a $10,000 asking price.

  15. I like playing this game with "rare" or "JDM" as well. Always nice to see a "rare" "JDM" '93 Civic with a d16 "swap" and left hand drive.

    Worst: $40k '78 Lincoln MK V convertible

Worst (in that they didn't even turbo it): $8.5k VW Beetle body on Subaru Impreza chassis

Worst: '92 Trans am lambo-ified, spinners...

Best: (value) '84 Ram flat bed.
