Four Plus Three Equals C4? 1986 Chevrolet Corvette

The C4 generation Corvette is the easy way to get into an American built sports car with a 50 year history of dominating the competition.  Even in the dark days of the malaise era, the Corvette was still the best way to impress the ladies and men alike with a medium pile of cash.  Thankfully, due to the magic of depreciation, that chunk of change is even smaller today. Find this 1986 Chevrolet Corvette offered for $3,600 in Danville, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On.

This Corvette is powered by tune-port fuel injected 5.7 liter L98 V8 that puts 230 horsepower into a 4+3speed automatic. The "Doug Nash 4+3" is a 4-speed manual with a single planetary gearset mounted behind it so that overdrive ratios can be selected in 2nd, 3rd or 4th gears. It is very similar to the setup Volvo used for years known as the Laycock de Normanville overdrive, but allows the selection of OD in all gears but first.

  1. Depreciation is hitting this one extra hard. I just checked the link and it now says $2400, that seems like a steal!

  3. Greasy fingerprints all over the door + new tires and new ignition switch = I should have taped the pink slip to the windshield and left it on the curb.

Still, not a bad looking beater for 2400, Lemons car anyone?

  5. Gee now it's down to 2200 and it lost a fuel pump,
I'm beginning to feel sorry for the poor thing. Haven't been to Danville since I went to the Athenian school there. I could stop by I suppose ...
