Day of the Innocents: 1963 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible

Today is November 1st, traditionally celebrated as the All Saints Day in the Western Catholic world, but known as the Day of the Innocents down south of the border, followed by Day of the Dead tomorrow (Nov 2nd). Let's kick of the celebration of the innocents with this 1963 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible offered here on eBay bidding for $8,155 reserve-not-met with buy-it-now of $11,400 with 4 days to go.

This Bonneville is no little angel, but it comes from a time when cars were more innocent -- free from the modern day scorn heaped upon them by Hybrid drivers and Uber users who don't appreciate air that is black with smoke or a climate that is a changin'.

Under the hood is a 389 cubic inch factory V8 that was rated at 303 horsepower when new, and it is mated to a 4-speed manual floor shifted gearbox that puts power to a 3.9:1 posi-traction rear end.

  1. I always love seeing these bench seat 4 speed luxo-barges from the '60s! I'm trying to imagine the wife of the guy who ordered this rowing her way through the gears as she rows away through her chores of the day in suburbia as her friends comment
"Did you see Marge leaving the grocery store today?"
"Why yes I did, that Poncho laid a monster patch as she left. Was she peeved at someone or just having some fun?"
"Oh, Carol you're a hoot! My Larry's thinking about a BelAir Wagon when they come out in September. Now, if I can just give him a little nudge to order the 409 and a 4spd., Marge won't be the only one laying patches around here!"
"Maybe a Martini or two before you go to the dealership will do the trick"
"No martini's honey, they just make him sleepy. Have you ever heard of Tequila? It brings out the devil in them!"
