Boosted : 2001 Audi S4

Owning a B5 generation Audi S4 is a bit like dating that red headed girl in college -- you knew it was a terrible idea going into it, and you could only hope that the thrill of the ride is worth the heartache and consequences when the house of cards comes crashing down in a pile of flaming cards -- who doused these playing cards with lighter fluid anyway?  Find this 2001 Audi S4 here on eBay bidding for $5,100 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go, located in New Britain, CT.

There are only a few things in life that are certain -- death, taxes, & 2.7T turbo failure.  I know that some Audifanboys are going to hop into the comments and cry foul "no, it is only model year such and such where people use vegetable oil in the crankcase" -- just stop.  There is an old saying: "When there's smoke, there's an Audi puking bits of its turbo all over the ground".  And the 2.7T has two of them, a double your pleasure, double your fun kinda experience.

I'm not saying you should avoid Audis like they are Maserati BiTurbos, just be sure you understand why the prices are so cheap compared to similar era super-sedans (M3, STI, EVO, etc).  However, when they are running, the 2.7T puts out a decent 265 horsepower and 295 ft-lbs of torque into a 6-speed manual gearbox.  More power is available when you turn up the boost...but with more power comes more responsibility.

See a better way to burn rubber with all 4 wheels?

  1. low mileage great looking car well cared for and only used mainly on Sundays and look at that steering wheel! Need I say more?

  2. I have a 2001 S4 with 224,000 miles on it and original turbos. I just had them checked and they were fine, no need for new ones. So much for that generalization.

1., this changes things. Let me update the article.

  3. FTB where is the responsibility in DWD ?

  4. I think it looks great. Just use the German Castrol and you'll be fine.
