Mid Week Match-Up: Big @ss Boat For Doctordel

Today's Mid Week Match-Up comes to us from Doctordel who writes: So, after I wiggled my way out of the garage, taking care not to brush against the DT 1800ES or against the DT MGB GT, and tiptoed past the DT-inspired 996, it occurred to me-as I lifted myself into the DT-suggested Gen 3 4Runner-that you guys have given me enough car joy to last though my own and my kids' lifetimes. And I owe all of them to your goddamn amazing site, damn you all. Seriously, my boys are pretty stoked about their future rides in a few years and I couldn't be happier to provide them the unique experience that comes from driving a classic to high school. That being said, the Chop Top Challenge this past April really got me to fall in love with the big, fluffy magic cloud ride that can only be experienced behind the wheel of a mongo Murican convertible.

I need: Something domestic. And big. And roofless. Under 10k. V8 a plus, a big ass plus. Actually, unless it's a Corvair, don't even suggest anything other than a V8. And don't suggest Corvair either because I already thought of that.

DT E-i-C Vince:  The first contender is this 1969 Chevrolet Impala located somewhere in the wild frozen North and offered here on eBay for $10,200 CAD ($7,943 USD). It has a removeable top, a 327 cubic inch V8 and red/red color combo.

If the above red/red color combo doesn't do it for you, how about this 1973 Mercury Cougar XR/7 ragtop here on eBay offered for $6,900 located in Wilmington, NC.  You get a 351 cubic inch V8 and a mile of hood...what else do you need?

See a better option for Doctordel?  Comment below.

    1. Wow, a 4 door rag top. LOVE the interior (don't hate on me, I'm a white interior in my verts kinda guy).

      Love the Hemi, too...

But the ragtop looks a bit... ragged? Kinda weird to see all the rubber bandaids on it.

Makes you wonder what kind of work they did overall (ie, reinforcing the frame, etc).

      -Stan (the *other* Stan...)
