Give 'Em The Superbird: 1981 Chrysler Cordoba

Hope you are enjoying your 4th of July, and if you aren't, well...this next feature should put a smile on your face because it is out of this world.  The Chrysler Cordoba was downsized for the 1980 model year and stuck on the J-Body platform shared with the Dodge Mirada, so you can't even use the logic that the Cordoba shared the B-platform with the Superbird...but why should that stop anyone from building such a thing.  Find this 1981 Chrysler Cordoba Superbird offered for $4,800 in Steubenville, OH via craigslist.  Tip from Scot C.

I guess we will continue with the theme that all things patriotic should be loud, preposterous, and insane...or just another weekday on DT.   Seriously, I have to tip my hat to the madman who conceived of this thing but you've got to wonder what he/she was on thinking.

This exact car was featured on the web back in 2012, but without the faded paint and rusted rear sections on Bangshift and Brian Lohnes wrote If the car is still powered by a Lean Burn 318 or bone stock, 150hp, 1970s suck bag 360ci engine our opinion will start to skew more toward the fail side of the equation, but if there is a 440 under the hood and it can melt tires, we’d roll in this thing with an upturned middle finger to anyone who wanted to laugh.  Sorry Brian, but with the 90 horsepower slant-6 sitting under the hood, you'll be wishing for the power and torque of a 318...at least the nose looks aerodynamic.

  1. No matter how many times the current owner claims that this car is "kuul" it is, in fact, not.
But hey! The trunk is solid!

  3. I absolutely dig that this has a slant-six. The absolute absurd cherry on this carnival ride.

Expect to see more cars in this creative vein now that pot is becoming more freely available. We need all the motivation we can get to smile.

    1. It amazes me how quickly this car fell apart based on the pictures that were from 2012. #RUSTBELT

  6. Take it to a cars/coffee and watch from a far. Pick it up with a life time of stories wearing a hoody and dark ray bans at 0900. Photo the gawkers and plant the movie on the net. It will go viral !

    1. And make sure to leave the hood up so that the slant six is visible. That and the pep boys trailer marker light on the front end should induce rage in any Mopar fan. Video the car getting punched by the guy with a beer gut and a mullet while his wife holds his dart and open beer at the local Cars and Coors.
