1991 Alfa Romeo 164L

The Alfa Romeo 164 was the last of the Tipo Quattro cars to debut.  The 164 shared a common platform with the Fiat Chroma, Lancia Thema and Saab 9000.  The Alfa shared the least of all the quadruplets and is the last Alfa before the FIAT takeover of Alfa in 1989.  Find this 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L for sale in Portland, OR for $1,450 via craigslist.  This post is part of DT's 2016 Birthday Celebration of 100 cars; enjoy the ride!

The subject car is an L model with a 5 speed and the lovely baby poop tan leather interior.  I owned a 164L in this same color combo for 10 years.  The leather was nice and covered all surfaces vs. most cars where the seating surface is leather and the sides and backs are vinyl.

For some odd reason the 164L badge has been removed from the trunk - accident perhaps.  The seller seems to be a collector of sorts, there are two other 164's in his compound.  The seller is very economical with information, one sentence to call them and no engine pictures.  But what could go wrong with a $1,500 Alfa from the 90's?
