It looks like an attempt to user the power of bondo to transform a Porsche 914 into an Audi R8.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an attempt to user the power of bondo to transform a Porsche 914 into an Audi R8.
ReplyDeleteIs it a Porsche 914/Dodge Charger mashup?
ReplyDeleteCorvair gt35
ReplyDeleteGoogle image search conclusively identified it as "car".
ReplyDeleteIf it's a 914, it's lost its vent windows... though the dash looks very 914ish. 5-bolt wheels (from a ~2000 Buick Regal) are odd for a 914. The front fenders look like they're from a Porsche kit. The rear... uhhh...
So maybe some Fiero in there too, since the wheels are GM?
It strikes me initially as second-gen Corvair
ReplyDeleteI think the front quarter panels are after an MG MGA. Doesn't quite seem like the lines of a 914 to me. Rear of roof definitely looks like a '69 Charger. The heft of the A-pillar seems thoroughly modern. I am perplexed.
ReplyDeleteThe rear roofline says AW20 MR2.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the car says burn me.
I tried like heck to find an MR2 picture that matched up. I'm leaning towards an attempt to replicate a Charger with some kinda scoop-y thing added to the rear quarter panels.
Deleteyeah doesn't the MR2 have double hatches like this one on the rear/lid?
Deletewhat a bizarre beast
What was this built from? I'd have to say "the contents of a dumpster".
ReplyDeleteI think it's a VW Type III wearing a set of '68-'70 Dodge Charger B-pillars. That or a Porsche 914.
ReplyDeleteI just added a bunch of additional photos to help you guys come to a conclusion because I walked around this thing for a few minutes and I'm still confused. GOOD LUCK!
ReplyDeleteMien Gott -- das Drei Funf Sechs?!?

If that is where the front of this car started then I am just.....sad.
The good news: it looks better and more consistent than the new Prius.
ReplyDeleteThe bad news: That means it's the second-ugliest design currently registered in California.
I'm gonna bet there's some kind of GM FWD powertrain in the back end,
what about *this* Prius...

DeleteTurd, meet high-speed buffer.
Someone had a 914, a 356 kit car nose, a Buick FWD A-body powertrain, and a picture of a Ferrari 308GT4.
ReplyDeleteFirst generation corvair windshield. The gas tank filler and inner doors are consistent with that.
ReplyDeleteI have a 914 and used to have a 1959 corvair, and that's a corvair windshield.
The base of the A pillar is the giveaway.
Probably swapped in a transverse fwd engine and transmission and bobbed the tail
To me the most disorienting aspect of this is how far back the rear axle has been pushed. Bet it rides great over undulating pavement.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess that it's a Corvair / Fiero mashup based on pics and all previous comments.
The elusive Corviero? With a bed in the back, it'd be El Corviero. GM's greatest cult hits.
What was I?
ReplyDeleteVolkswagen KharminFieroBugeyed Ghia?
ReplyDeleteLate Corbair rear end on a typelll with a Fiero transaxle.
ReplyDeleteThis was my thought, too.
DeleteBuick sport's car the wheels anyway looks fiatish simca....
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a Lotus Elite front end?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with a VW FiberFab front body kit and a GSM rear body kit with a Subie EJ25 loaded into the back.... but then I like VW and have no respect for the fiberglass body kits available.
