Bone Stock 5-Speed: 1990 BMW 325is

The original BMW 3-series might have been the E21 generation sold in North America (1977 through 1982) but the one that put the BMW 3-series on the map was the E30 built from 1982 through 1993.  Power came from a variety of overhead cam inline-4 and inline-6 engines, and suspension was MacPherson struts up from and semi-trailing arm out back.  Find this 1990 BMW 325is offered for $6,500 in Richmond, CA via craigslist.

The 1990 325is model represents one of the better examples E30 generation 3-series, it has the updated styling (introduced for the 1988 model year) that includes smaller integrated front bumpers, new tail lights, and a few other small items.

Under the hood is a 2.5 liter M20B25 inline-6 that produces 168 horsepower and 163 ft-lbs of torque via a simple single overhead cam design and Motronic fuel injection.  Power goes to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional limited slip differential was available (no word on this car's rear end specs).

  1. Late-bumper 325is. Cool,

The tiptoe suspension can be dealt with.

    But...black? No, no, no.

    1. I could survive with a black car if I lived on the PNW coast...I'd still need A/C though...

  2. These days, I'm indifferent to color on an e30 (except bronzit...ugh). If it's cheap and in good shape like this one, it's a unicorn and I'm a buyer.

    2. No, the unicorn is an E28. The E30 is Shaun the Sheep. If it runs by May 21.

    3. LOL...believe it or not, I was in a coin toss scenario last year....searching for nice 535is or 325is, whichever came up first. I had looked at 3 e28's and purchased the third before even seeing a worthwhile e30.

  3. Why isn't that huge finger placed firmly over the license plate? Sheesh!

    1. Because the seller thinks the car will pass smog without six year old levels of drama.
