Thursday Twister: Mid Engine

Welcome to another edition of DT's Thursday Twister, the game where the referee wears solid and the players wear stripes.  This week, we are looking for cars that have the entire engine located between the centerline of the axles (front & rear).

Rules... there are no rules!  Just name all the mid-engine cars, I will kick things off with this sweet Lancia Scorpion.

  1. Here's one you might not have expected: Ford Model T. Front axle is so far forward the engine sits behind it.

  3. No rules!?! So I can list more than one before I have to deal with ReCaptcha? Woohoo!

OK: Shelby AC Cobra; Citroen DS (front mid-engined, and FWD!); Citroen SM (same arrangement as the DS, cuz same platform)

    1. KBZ, it really pains me to do this, but I have to point out that the DMC-12 is in fact rear engined and therefore ineligible for this week's Twister.

On the bright side, if an LS1 fits in a 996, it fits in a DeLorean.

  25. Lamborghini Miura P400. Interesting side note -- the photo below is NOT the finished model that shipped to customers. A lot of people don't know that.

  27. Mid-century perfection: gorgeous proportions, classic styling, and legendary performance. Also, the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing in the background is a mid-engine car:
