Engineered Jeans: 1977 Jeep CJ7 Renegade Levis 4x4

If you are going to upholster America's flagship off-road machine with any material for a special edition, what would you choose?  You want something rugged, durable and synonymous the outdoor lifestyle.  Leather is already taken.  Burlap is too rugged. How about denim?  Find this 1977 Jeep CJ7 Renegade Levis 4x4 here for sale in Denver, CO for $12,500 via craigslist

Now to choose a popular clothing company that sells denim products to associate with the Jeep name. Duh. How about Wrangler? Sorry, that is a little too on-the-nose and it will just confuse everybody. The Wrangler edition Wrangler does not have a nice ring to it and most Jeep owners probably won't be wrangling anything anyway.  Let's just talk to the people at Levis.

The Levis package turned out to be a suitable choice.  If you like blue, this is could be your Jeep. This particular example has only 69,000 miles and is equipped with the ubiquitous AMC 258 straight six with a 4-speed.  The malaise era from which this model emerged produced some gaudy, over-done vehicles.  Happily, Jeep kept it minimalist with its CJs and the result is this tidy interior.

Jeeps of any era are not cheap and this one is no exception.  Rust-free, low-mile examples from this time period are hard to find, so you can expect them to keep their value.  You will have to find something else to tackle those salty winter streets, but this 4x4 will take you darn near anywhere else.

  1. Early 2000's cavaliers should have came with a factory body kit and neon under body lights. Also with a denim interior. The jnco edition. Limp bisquit cd included.

  2. The Levi's CJ7 is probably the best clothing manufacturer tie-in vehicle of all time. Although if I run across any examples of the worst, I'll be sure to email them to you guys!

  3. Yeah, but there's something wrong here. The truck's supposed to fade as you wash it, isn't it?
