I knew Ewan McGregor was a cool guy who rode old motorcycles, but didn't know he was into aircooled VWs too. Very cool. The original color of this car (before the rust) was Ceramic Green if I'm not mistaken, which I'm considering when I finally respray my '66. It was a one-year-only color for 1960 but it suits the lines of these cars so well.
I am a fan of Ewan as well as Old Bugs. My first car was a slammed cal-look. At 15 I was able to save up little amounts of money and buy fun bits for. Always poured over my Hot VW magazines.Anyone else watch Long way Round and Long Way Down? Very awesome.
I'm a big fan of those movies especially Long way around. If you like those check out 180 degrees south on Netflix. Similar type of story with a long journey that some surfer/rock climbers took to Patagonia in an old ford van. The movie is more about recreating that trip.
Yup, I do freelance design work at Patagonia. Best place to work ever!
Not sure I am crazy about the high gloss patina, but then, I don't hate it either. I had a 60 at one point. It was on a '69 chassis, antique white with a red interior and the rag top like this one. Sure wish I had hung onto it.
