In 1999 Ford restyled the SN-95 generation Mustang in something called New Edge -- a design philosophy that spilled over to other Ford product. In 2001 Ford released a special editions called the Bullitt -- a special edition to commemorate the 1968 Fastback driven by Steve McQueen in the movie of the same name. Find this 2001 Ford Mustang GT Bullitt here on eBay bidding for $4,000 reserve-not-met with $8,900 buy-it-now located in Ft Lauderdale, FL with 1 day to go.
The Bullitt special edition Mustang was only available in the 2001 model
year and featured a mildly upgraded 4.6L V8 engine and a handful of unique trim items, including a wingless trunk, fancy gas cap, and 5-spoke
alloys. The Bullitt was only available in dark Highland Green, True
Blue and black, and a total of 5,582 units were sold, making it a future collectors item for sure.
Power is from the same 4.6 liter modular V8 found in the regular Mustang GT, but here it is rated at 265 horsepower (versus 260 hp) due to a unique intake manifold, twin 57mm bore throttle body, a smaller alternator pulley, and a free flowing exhaust.
Power goes to a 5-speed manual transmission that included a unique flywheel and clutch assembly designed for more capacity and reduced pedal effort. On the inside you get a brushed aluminum shifter knob/bezel, Bullitt logo door sills, a retro dash with white lighting, stainless steel pedal covers, and seats stitched to emulate 60s style.
