Some Importation Required: 1969 GAZ 21 Volga

The GAZ (Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod aka Го́рьковский автомоби́льный заво́д) 21 Volga was first released in 1956 as "the Star" (Zhukovka), restyled in 1958 as "the Shark" (Akula) and finally retooled in 1962 as "the Baleen" (Kitovy Us).  The nicknames were based on the grill shapes used and l;et-me-tell-ya, krill will go running when they see this thing roll up to a stop light.  Find this 1969 GAZ 21 Volga here on eBay offered for $12,000 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Klaipėda, Lithuania with 2 days to go.

In the great book of internet sketchiness, there are a few hard and fast rules.  First, never click on a link your sick-in-the-head friend sends you; Second, never agree to meet up with that "17 year old" you met on craigslist; and Third, never buy a car sight unseen from Lithuania.  That's it.  With those simple rules you can survive a lifetime without sharing a jail cell with Jared Fogel or losing your life savings...but...BUT it isn't like you can just head down to Galpin Auto Sports and pickup a GAZ 21.  And this eBay listing MIGHT not be a scam...

Under the hood is a 2.4 liter inline-4 cylinder good for around 75-80 horsepower and mated to a 3-speed automatic manual transmission.  Interestingly enough there was a V8 version available for KGB agents, but regular vodka drinking folks would need to make due with the 4-banger.

It looks like an interesting interior, and this one isn't in bad shape either.

    1. Mr Anon -- you are indeed correct. I was just going by what the listing said. FIXED IT. -Vince DT Editor-in-Chief and Chief-of-Chiefiness.

    2. Very few of these cars had the auto (reliability issues and such). I really like these cars. They look similar to the western counterparts, but quite unique in its own way.
