The T4 generation Volkswagen Transporter was exported to the North American market as the Eurovan from 1992 through 2003 (although for a number of years you could only get Winnebago converted versions). It featured a European combination of 5-cylinder power and 5-speed manual gearbox that made it unlike anything else on the market. Find this 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan offered for $8495 in San Rafael, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.
The Eurovan wasn't sold in large numbers and it cost a pretty penny, so this seems like a really cheap example...and I couldn't understand why...until I remember that the Eurovan didn't leave the factory with all those Pep Boys blings glued all over the place.
The Eurovan was sold new with a 2.5 liter inline-5 that put 110 horsepower and 140 ft-lbs of torque into the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. It isn't the most rewarding thing to drive, but at least it isn't another slushbox minivan.
