Panther Claw: 1983 Lincoln Continental Mark VI

The Lincoln Continental Mark VI was built from 1980 to 1983 in Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant in Wixom, Michigan along side the other Panther platform cars such as the Ford LTD, Crown Victoria, Country Squire, Mercury Marquis, Colony Park, Grand Marquis, Marauder, Lincoln Continental, and Town Car.  The Continental Mark VI was replaced with the Fox based Mark VII in 1984 and it isn't often that you see one being sold by the original owner.  Find this 1983 Lincoln Continental Mark VI offered for $2,500 near Detroit, MI via craigslist.  Tip from Emmy.

This two-tone painted monster is offered as an original owner, 82k mile, garage kept classic with functioning AC  -- what more could you ask for in a $2,500 relic from past?  It won't impress anyone in your work parking lot, but you'll cruise in luxury and it sure beats something beige.

Behind that beautiful digital speedometer is a 5.0 liter Ford V8 rated at a pathetic 129 horsepower  and mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox.  Don't expect the digits on that thing to move too quickly or ever need a third digit.

See a cooler old sedan from the 80s?

  1. 2JZ swap!

    LSx swap!

    Briggs and Stratton swap!

Anything would make the engine better.

Other than that, pretty decent car considering it was at the tail end of the malaise era.

  2. What, no Matthew McConaughey and or station wagon comments yet?

Well I guess I took care of that.

  5. swap?
Keep it Ford , say a GAA perhaps?

  6. I'm sure I'm not the first to think it, but if this is the 5.0 V8 found in Fox-body Mustangs, wouldn't all the modifications available for those also work here? And if it's on the panther platform, you could grab pieces from later police panther cars, no?

  7. This would make such a great convertible.

    1. You've destroyed the structural integrity of your vehicle, man - it's gonna taco.

  8. Wow, the seller lives only a few miles away from the Ford Plant.

    (I grew up in Day-Twah)

  9. First picture includes shadow puppet of a rooster kissing a brontosaurus. This would be fun to keep stock looking on the outside and do a hot motor like this Fairmont:
