No Puking Here Buddy: 1973 Steyr Puch Pinzgauer 710M

If you roll up to the school drop off zone with a used Land Rover, everybody judges you. Many will assume you are some rich show off, those in-the-known might guess (correctly) that half the power features don't work and the bumper is held together with zipties, but most people will dismiss your oddness and get on with life.  Show up with a Steyr Puch Pinzgauer and people might guess you are part of a citizens militia, but they certainly won't dismiss you oddness. Find this 1973 Steyr Puch Pinzgauer offered for $14,000 near Denver, CO.

The Pinzgauer is a high mobility all terrain vehicle named after a breed of Austrian horse and will climb hills like it has 4 legs.  The 710k is one of the common members of the family of 4X4 military vehicles built from 1971 to 2000 by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG in Graz, Austria with the Pinzgauer name on it.

The Pinzgauer was engineered with a central tube chassis, a transaxle with sealed differentials (front and rear) along with portal axles to maximize the ability to scale obstacles.  This soft top version has seating for 10 and a 2.5 liter inline-4 cylinder air cooled engine rated at 87 horsepower and 133 ft-lbs of torque.

See a cooler car for the morning drop off?

  1. Black cat in first picture is thinking to himself "How many years of bad luck is it if my owner buys a Pinzgauer?"
Also guaranteed if you drive one of these that you will never have to listen to the police lecture you about your speeding...

  3. One of the many things in life that I'd love to have but will never quite find room for.

  4. This and the comparable little Volvo were the coolest things to pull into my office on the way to Yosemite, as opposed to a $250k Earthroamer battlewagon. Unloading kids like troops would be mighty cool.

  5. This is competitively priced ($10k cheaper) vs. the ones they sell down the street from me. If this is as good a runner as they say it is... great buy on an awesome vehicle.

  6. Volvo C303s are way cheaper and just as cool...and have the sweet B30 inline 6
