10k: Truckin': 1975 Ford F-250 Ranger Highboy

If you are in the market for a small fuel efficient truck, this next feature won't be the one for you, but if your trucking miles are limited and parking unlimited, why not get a giant dino-juice drinking triceratops from another era.  Like this 1975 Ford F-250 Ranger Highboy found here on eBay currently bidding for $10,700 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go, located in Caldwell, ID.

This is a 1-owner truck with 62k original miles, a 360 cubic inch V8, automatic transmission, 8-track player, 4X4, and all original parts (no repro parts, not a resto).  The price is high, but the juice might be worth the squeeze.

See another big ole pickup?

  1. Want. Want. Want.
Hey, um, can I borrow $10k?

  2. I'll bet even he didn't believe he'd double his money on that truck when he bought it! Love the gun rack!

  3. Late enough to have front discs, early enough to be smog-immune in CA.

Won't have all mod cons like automatic climate control and you'll feel that big front beam axle in the steering, but if it's as good as it looks that all might be just fine.

Appears to have some off-brand Chinese golf cart tires on it, hope it's otherwise better cared for.

    1. 'Buckshot' brand tires? Really?

    2. While I'd prefer a name brand tire (it shows the seller isn't ultra cheap) somehow the name "Buckshot" really works with this beast.

  4. Growing up in CO, every ranch had one of these Highboys for use plowing and hauling hay during snow and mud season. Still see a few around, but rare to see one in this condition. Good looking workhorse.

  5. A friend of mine has one of these in it's original guv-mint green. He parked it between a Tundra and a new Dodge truck the other day. As we were walking away I looked back and had to laugh. The Ford highboy was dwarfed by the modern trucks and it did not look so bad-ass anymore. Truly comical.

    1. Yeah, but normal humans can actually reach into the bed of an old truck without a cherry-picker. Even a garden-variety F150 is now pretty much impossible.
