10k: The Big Plasti-Dipper: 2005 Honda S2000

The Honda S2000 remains the cheapest way to get into a street vehicle with the mean piston speed of an F1 car...unless you want to shove a bike engine into the side of a Toyota MR2, but those have been known to throw rods as often as Russell Crowe throws telephones at bellhops.  Pick up your Australian throwing star and buy this 2005 Honda S2000 offered here on eBay for $9,000 buy-it-now with a few hours to go, located in Riverside, CA.

The AP2 generation Honda S2000 (2004-2009) continued the same theme as the AP1 (1999-2003) but offered a larger displacement engine producing the same power up to 2.2 liters from 2.0.  The F22C1 pushes out 237 horsepower, but ups the torques to 160 ft-lbs, and drops the 9,000 rpm redline to 8,800 rpm.  This extra torque helps car accelerate marginally faster, but the AP2 also brought with it a spattering of suspension changes to improved geometry, softened the ride and surprisingly, added speed at the track.

This AP2 is offered covered in plasti-dip, with a salvage and non-op title...but...the price is roughly half the going rate for a clean example.  Rip off the plasti-dip, get it registered and enjoy.

  3. Ok, one lien sale/auction, three accidents, salvaged title and no pictures of the Sparco seats included. Sign me up, or maybe not. Also really don't understand the vintage black/yellow plate on a modern car?

  6. So why would you have to shove a bike engine into a car - wouldn't a bike be a street vehicle, no?
