The 2-door hardtop version of the 4th generation Lincoln Continental continues to be one of the better price-per-pound deals on vintage steel. The Elwood Engel sheet metal exudes a street presence that is unmatched by anything Matthew McConaughey might drive around and doesn't need any fancy marketing to convince sellers to fork over hard earned cash. Find this 1969 Lincoln Continental here on eBay currently bidding for $5,200 with 2 days to go, located in Kissimmee, FL.
Covered in a vintage shade of green (looks like medium lime poly to me), this thing is cooler than a pair of Ray-Bans and a pinstriped suit. The suicide door sedan version of the 4th gen Continental is iconic and expensive, but you can pick up a 2-door hardtop version in great shape for cheap.
The Continental is powered by an A-code Ford 460 cubic inch V8 fed via a 4-bbl
carburetor, good for 365 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs of torque (SAE
gross). The big block Ford is a monster when it comes to torque, makes decent power, and should be great for cruising, but that is about it.
The interior is a combination of wood paneling, green overstuffed seats and flashy gauges that look like they came from a 60s alarm clock factory. Everything on the inside checks the obligatory boxes in the personal luxury coupe checklist.
