The Mercury Comet was an up market version of Ford's popular Falcon compact sedan and rode on a slightly longer wheelbase and had a nicer interior. The Comet was initially launched to be part of Ford's Edsel lineup, but with the failure of the Edsel marque, the Comet was sent to the Mercury dealer with only Comet badging. Find this 1960 Mercury Comet restomod offered here on eBay currently bidding for $7,399 with a few hours to go, located in Bronston, KY.

The Marauder name was first used on an engine option package for Mercury Montclair and Colony Park models in the late '50s. The Marauder later became an option package for the full sized Monterey, Montclair, and Park Lane and it was the car (in fastback form) that Mercury used for NASCAR racing. The street version was equipped with big block engines, bucket seats and a center console. Find this 1965 Mercury Marauder Park Lane offered here on craigslist for $4,900 via craigslist located in Dublin, CA. Tip from FuelTruck.

The Mercedes-Benz W110 is a classic sedan from the mid sixties and has gained the nickname Heckflosse (German for Fintail). Technically, the rear fins were called peilstege (German for sightlines) and weren't designed for aerodynamic stability, but to help the driver find the ends of the car when backing up. A decent running/driving example with nice paint for less than $4k seems almost too good to be true. You be the judge. Find this 1967 Mercedes Benz 230 offered here on craigslist for $3300 located in Fresno, CA. Tip from FuelTruck.
The Manta Mirage was a strange low volume car kit car built from 1974-1986 out of a small garage in Costa Mesa, CA. It was styled to look like a McLaren M8 CanAm race car and was featured prominently in low budget Hollywood films in the day, first as one of the 48 cars stolen in HB Halicki's 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds and later in the 1975 Death Race 2000. Recently we searched for one for Chuck, who seems to be the only surviving actual McLaren M8 racer still on the planet, but wouldn't you know that one would show up on eBay a few weeks later. Find this 1985 Manta Mirage here on eBay currently bidding for $17,700 reserve-not-met with about a day to go, located in Alpharetta, GA.
Any motor head worth his salt is a fan of the BMW 'new class'--introduced in 1962 with the 1500, later adding the 1600, 1800, 2000 & 2002. The later 2002 is the choice for fun seekers around the world, and the ultra exclusive turbo version is all but unobtainable for the average man, but 2002 Tii version can still be picked up if you keep your eyes open. Find this 1974 BWM 2002 Tii offered for $5,099 here on craigslist located in Davie, FL. Tip from FuelTruck.

We conclude our celebration of Bracq Friday with another classic coupe from Paul Bracq, but this time from his later years at BMW Design. The E24 generation BMW 6-series was built from 1976-1989 and proved that you didn't need a V8 to build a fantastic grand tourer. It also proved that a guy named Paul Bracq knew how to design a car that looked like a shark. Get one today before they become ultra expensive and live in fancy garages. Find this 1984 BMW M6 E24 offered here on eBay, currently bidding for $15,200 reserve-not-met with 7 days to go, located in Spring, Texas.
Let's continue our celebration of Bracq Friday with another classic Paul Bracq designed coupe from Mercedes. This one isn't an over priced collectible, destined to sit in a garage like a Faberge egg in a china cabinet, like the previous 2-door Merc --no, this one is mean to be driven and enjoyed every day. Find this 1972 Mercedes-Benz 250C here on craigslist, offered for $7500 in Vancouver, Canada. Tip from Gianni.
Our featured Bordeaux-born artist cut his teeth on wood sculpting, and after pulling the splinters from his gums, went on to masterfully design the timeless shapes you've seen today. His artistic roots compel his brush to continued use, perhaps to assuage clients facing five-figure restoration bills for their W113s and E24s. This late-model example liberally blends art deco with pop art for a trippy, clockwise flow of warm-and-cool hues that could be a statement on the inadequacies of sports cars' enamel keeping wayward red paint swaths from assaulting the fender of your rear wheel drive German Bahn-burner like tumbleweed in Nevada. Or not. Either way, it's a great entry-level example for the Porsche enthusiast, and should gain more respect from the air-cooled faithful than our recently featured 996 Cabriolet. Find this 2000-era Paul Bracq early edition giclée painting of a Porsche 964 911 Turbo here on eBay in Northville, MI for $499 buy-it-now.
Let's kickoff our celebration of Bracq Friday with a classic Paul Bracq designed coupe from Mercedes. Not the SL, because you need to be a banker or a gangster to afford one of those, but the still expensive W111 Coupe. The W111 coupe was built from 1961 to 1971 and it overlaps production of the W111 and W108 sedan chassis. The later (post '65) W111 coupes could be considered a W108 coupe, but the two door versions offer an immensely long hood and graceful rear glass shape at the price point of a new mid-sized family sedan. Find this 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE W111 Coupe here on eBay, currently bidding for $25,400 with 2 days to go.

Even with a build quality slightly above duct-taping a bird's head onto its neck, we don't get many details or photos befitting this masterful dogification. No given interior shots showing traces of mustard, dog hair, or urine. No information about how many seats it has, or if it has an open bed for picking up hitchhikers and hit men. Fortunately, the facade looks like it's been spared from hill jumping, and does a passable job of not blaspheming the original. That's far more than I could say for the recently released Dumb and Dumber To. Find this 2001 Chevy Express 1500 Dumb and Dumber conversion for $5,000 here on eBay located in a place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Bettendorf, IA.
It is the Wednesday, so that means it's time for another edition of Daily Turismo's weekly game of Jenga with a Saab fuse block also known as Mid Week Match-Up! This time we have another specific request from a reader...so why not!?!? This one comes from Jupiter J. who writes:
I just stumbled on to the website and I love it. I am looking for a BMW 2002 or BMW 2002 tii for $5K firm. Currently, I am looking for a daily driver as my car was totaled. I live in Florida and grew up in Detroit, so I love old cars. I would like to find an auto that has that vintage look, but one that a hot little sugar momma wouldn't be afraid to get into because of fear of catching tetanus. Could the Daily Turismo help me?
Some people like to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving, and here at the Daily Turismo, we agree! But don't waste your time waiting in line at Best Buy for some piece of electronic gadgetry that will be obsolete in a week -- instead, we suggest blowing your hard-earned cash on a piece of automotive art, maybe a classic designed by Paul Bracq? But first, help us find the best cars for this year's celebration of Bracq Friday.

Popular culture regularly tells us that it is good to be different. Bristol-Myers Co ran a commercial ad campaign a few that described Nuprin as-- Little. Yellow. Different. Better. Unfortunately the product didn't do well in the Asian communities because they felt it was a racial slur and Nuprin was ultimately a failure, but the need to be different continues to be a driving force in day-to-day decision making. Being different for a car guy can be as simple as driving anything from AMC for your classic, or you can go off the deep end with something like this 1967 NSU TTS offered here on craigslist for $9,500 near Cleveland, OH.

The Porsche 928 used a V8 up front mated to a transaxle in a comprehensibly modern design that was decidedly non-911 and very much a luxury grand tourer. It was the ultimate German Camaro, so it is only natural that you might consider shoving a Chevy 350 V8 into the front and painting it to look like a racecar. Find this 1979 Porsche 928 offered here on eBay currently bidding for $302 reserve-not-met with 5 days to go, located in Seneca, IL.
In 2005 General Motors released a Saab branded version of the mid-sized GMT360 SUV platform that shares parts with the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet TrailBlazer & SSR, GMC Envoy, Oldsmobile Bravada, and Isuzu Ascender. The Saab 9-7x version was not that exciting until the 2008 model year when Saab released the LS2 powered Aero version (aka the Trollblazer), which was most powerful production "Saab" ever built. Find this 2008 Saab 9-7x Aero here on craigslist offered for $12,000 in Vermont.
