10k: Road Rage: 1975 Volvo C303 TGB 1111

Volvo's wicked C303 military 4X4 was available in several variants, including the TGB 1111, which was a soft-top model, armed with the Pansarvärnspjäs 1110 90 mm recoil-less antitank gun.  This next feature is missing its antitank gun, but we'd equip it with some period correct armament and scare the crap out of our neighbors.  Find this 1975 Volvo C303 TGB 1111 offered here on eBay for $9,500 or best offer, located in Santa Paula, CA.

The C303 was the successor to the older C202 Laplander and had a distinguished military career of keeping moose safe in Scandinavia.  Making the list of top ten unlikely motorsports icons, the C303 was victorious in the light truck class at the 1983 Paris Dakar Rally.

Powering the C303 is a Volvo B30 OHV 3.0 liter inline six, which pushes about 125 horsepower and 165 ft-lbs of torque into a industrial strength 4X4 setup.  This C303 is missing its soft top and anti-tank gun, but either could be custom fabricated by a DIYer with some time/funds.  Almost 10 large is a bit on the high side of what I'd want to pay for a vehicle like this, but its not like these things litter craigslist like Honda Civics.

See a better car for cleaving through Friday afternoon traffic?

  1. So what, we've got a seller who specializes in soft-target military hardware?

Interesting piece of hardware, but there's a bunch of others I'd prefer.
