What Is It? BMW Wood Steering Wheel

We get some strange e-mail into the DT tips inbox, (the toe-nail fungus removal spam is nonstop...what is up with these people...I don't have a problem!) but sometimes someone asks a question that makes us curious too.  Like this email from Gary who writes:  Could you help me to identify this steering wheel? Is it worth anything? Thank-you for any help you might be willing to give me.

Aside from the obvious fact that it is badged as  BMW item, I cannot find what car it might belong to.  Any ideas? Comments below.

  1. I have an old Nardi exactly like that, it was on my '62 mini - http://www.dailyturismo.com/2014/08/reader-ride-rally-bred-austin-mini.html - but I replaced it with a Moto Lita.

Your wheel has a removable rubber center section, and some clever dude made your wooden center section with some nice router work and attached it on there somehow, it has to be removable to get the wheel on and off. Cool idea!

  2. Whatever it is, it's butt-ugly (in my opinion, of course).

Sorry for the duplicate---the interface has been acting a bit screwy lately. When I clicked "publish" on the first one, I got a 404 Service Unavailable error. Then when I re-posted, they both popped up. Lately I'm making sure to copy my posts before hitting publish, because many times the page just refreshes and your post goes into the ether.

  5. I made that in 7th grade wood shop class. You should see the killer Van Halen logo I cut out on the bandsaw as well.

  6. The most customary of the Land Rover directing game plans is to turn the front wheels utilizing a hand-worked guiding wheel. Obviously, for the various types of vehicles and types of transportation, there are diverse frameworks and courses of action for the entire directing framework. My Wheel Covers
