2k: Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau: 1972 Gilbern Invader Mk III

The Gilbern Invader was a small sports car built in Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales. It is one of the few cars ever engineered and built in the country that brought us the equals sign, tennis and Catherine Zeta-Jones.  By 1972 the Invader (actually the descendant of something called the GT, then the Genie) was in its 4th year of production and 3rd revision...perhaps we've stumbled onto the reason that Gilbern is not manufacturing cars anymore.  Find this 1972 Gilbern Invader Mk III currently bidding for £1,400 GBP ($2,200 USD at time of printing) on eBay UK with 4 days to go, located in Manchester, UK.  Tip from Zeke.

I hate to be the guy who always complains about everything...but...sheesh..if you are going to try and sell a car, why not take more than one photo and put something other than 2 words about the car in the advertisement.  Including useful details, like the model year of manufacture, is always welcome, but the time needed to take a few more pictures and post them on eBay is incrementally 30 seconds at the most.  I almost prefer sellers who blatantly lie about the car (could be one owner, might be original miles - sure looks like it, probably original engine) versus the type who can't take 2 minutes to put some detail into an ad.

This is what a MkIII Invader looks like it if you put some time/money into the above hulk.  Power comes from a 3.0 liter Ford Essex V6 from a Capri and with suspension borrowed from the Cortina the invader should have a driving experience that matches it sporty facade.

    1. I'll keep an eye open for any Invaders on this side of the pond, but you'd have better luck picking one up in the UK and importing to here. They are rarer than a newborn calf, but not ultra expensive to buy. Love the Gilbern logo.

But really is the guy trying to sell the dirt or the tarp? His single picture shows them nicely. I think maybe his wife told
him to sell the car and he is not trying that hard cause he doesn't want to part with any of the 65 Invaders he has hidden around his barn.. maybe another case of "Gau i fyny i chi fuwch dwp yn gadael fy ceir ei ben ei hun" ?
