10k: Cheap 4-Door: 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina

The Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina (which means sedan in Italian) is the square shouldered sister to the gorgeous GTV; less attractive but more useful.  Fancy yourself a vintage Alfa, but you need a set of shoulders that are more accustomed to pushing a plow than wearing a sundress, the Berlina is your choice.  Find this 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina offered for $8,000 in Santa Clara, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

It isn't a foregone conclusion that the 1750 Berlina isn't a good looking car, after all it was styled by Mr Isuzu Impulse himself Giorgetto Giugiaro while he was at Bertone, it just isn't quite as playfully in design as the GTV.  The squared off rear windows look almost Fiatish in execution, but it was a form follows function decision to maximize interior space and truck access simultaneously.

The inside of this Berlina shows some wear/tear and is what you might expect from a sub $10k example.  The mess of wiring/parts in the passenger foot-well is but a glimpse of potential wiring issues a new owner might encounter.  Still...at this price, it might be worth the risk.

  1. You should send the owner a bill, the price went up another $1000. Hard to tell much about the body and paint from those pictures in the shade but it does look straight. Alfa wiring isn't all that tough to work on, it's mostly a matter of good grounds and clean connections.

  2. That grey color looks like primer. Alfa sure used some weird colors in the early 70's.
