A is for Abomination: 2003 Pontiac Aztek

Welcome to the kickoff for DT's 2nd Birthday party, where we introduce the world to the Alphabet according to Daily Turismo -- also known as DT's ABCs.

A is regrettably not for affluence, affection or alcohol, it is unfortunately for affordability, adventure and ass....as in...looks like ass.  Woe is he who inherits an Aztek from a relative, for getting rid of one is never easy.  But this is the Daily Turismo and we don't conform to the norm, so we're gonna give the Aztek bashing a rest and say, if you are going to go full retard, do it all the way.  Find this 2003 Pontiac Aztek offered for $6,500 in Bend, OR via craigslist.

If you are going to inflict the hideousness of the Aztek on your neighbors, then it better be the 2003-2005 only Rally Edition that included lowered front ride height, a rear wing, body colored grill and 17 inch chrome alloy wheels. Actually, the Pimp My Ride rims and overspray looking grill gives the Aztek Rally a Pep Boys parking lot custom look that might make it more objectionable than the angry appliance look of the standard cars.  For what it's worth, Pontiac's first SUV crossover does offer a surprising amount of usability in minivan based package, its just a shame they made it so ugly.

  1. These are very popular here in Silicon Valley among independent computer repair guys. Why?

    1. They're also extremely popular on the roads of MI where they are still being driven by plant employees. Nothing says Christmas bonus like super low priced lease deals on Aztecs. Just like the Christmas fruitcake they will eventually rot away, but not for a long time yet.

    2. When you make the big bucks, but aren't compelled to flaunt it AND (potentially) disdain those that do, an inverse in public behavior is displayed as a non-verbal vote of values. Then again, family court/child support could have you driving a cardboard box too.

  2. There is something to be said about driving the ugliest POS and paying nothing for it.

  3. As far as the mechanical end of them go it's all just standard GM, so if you need a utilitarian van and don't care so much about the looks there is really nothing wrong with it if it's on the cheap side. This nasty thing can swallow up a lot of cargo.

  4. The ugliest car ever designed? Maybe? After all the design review committees GM has how in the world did this slip through?

  5. If anyone can verify for me, wasn't the Saabaru 9-2x thrown out with the bath water only to garner steep-discounts and a longer(?) warranty out the door back when? Was that a hot-ticket for the time or do I belong in Florida?
