5k: Ragged Top: 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible

The Ford Fairlane was an intermediate sized body-on-frame unibody classic from Detroit, and in ragtop form these big monsters can be quite a deal when compared to a Chevelle or other muscle car from the sixties.  The fifth generation with its stacked headlights is one of the best looking of the breed and was made only from 1966 to 1967.  Find this 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 currently bidding for for $5,000 via ebay, located in Woodbury, NJ with a few hours to go.

This particular Fairlane 500 is wearing a faded coat of red paint and will need some attention paid to rust issues popping up from the hard days of an East Coast life.  If someone is in the East and not afraid of dealing with rust, this could be a pretty sweet fixer.

Unfortunately the seller of this Fairlane is afflicted with a particularly nasty form of tennis elbow that makes him incapable of taking a landscape orientation photo...so the advert is filled with portrait pictures of a car that is basically a big horizontal rectangle.

  1. I had a 66 Fairlane 289 wagon in high school. If I recall correctly the Fairlane is unibody construction, not BOF. The only resemblance of a frame may be the reinforcements needed for a convertible.

The 351 Windsor is the perfect motor for this car. My 289 Fairlane could only spin the tires after I added water squirters over the right one legger tire!

    1. Rene - you are correct on the unibody vs BOF. Fixed above.
