10k: Super Sport Survivor: 1965 Chevrolet Chevy II

The Chevy II was a compact sedan offered from Chevrolet starting in the 1962 model year. This "compact" offered a conventional alternative to the wacky rear-engined Corvair and could be powered with various powerplants by the mid 60s.  Today the Chevy II is seen around the country in car shows with all manner of huge V8s shoved into the front, so to find a factory 283 SS version in survivor condition bidding for a reasonable amount of money is great.  Find this 1965 Chevrolet Chevy II SS currently bidding for $9,000 with 2 days to go, located in Las Vegas, NV.

This black plate survivor is being sold from seller jesus_loves_you_702 on ebay who is listed as a private seller but is routinely selling cars on ebay.  However, just because the seller is flipping the car for profit doesn't mean you can't get a good deal.  Furthermore, many flippers put a bunch of sweat equity and are better at buying cars that you can't otherwise find...but...as always with any purchase, caveat emptor.

Under the hood of this Chevy II is a 283 cubic inch Chevrolet V8, rated at 220 horsepower if the dual exhaust is original.   While the 283 will be no match for the 327 version rated at 300 hp, it will provide much more entertainment than any of the basic inline-6 options, and the classic SBC soundtrack.

The inside of this Chevy II is spartan, but it looks in decent shape.  The automatic transmission and center console are likely an upgraded part of the Nova SS option, but perhaps a Chevy II expert can chime in the comments to explain what was standard vs optional.

  1. ~ That's sweet! My little brother had a '62 H/T. First task; yank the 230ci, swap in the 327ci and 4spd from his roached '57 wagon. That Deuce hauled ash.

  2. The front end on these (suspension) are really bad i know several people who had trouble with them i would a take a nice 65 but love the 66/67 body style hands down. 327/365 hp 4 speed.

  3. Cute little Chevy II but once you have ridden in a 66 with a blown 383 it kinda ruins anything but a owning a 66 or 67.
The styling is just so good on those years.
