5k: Another One So Soon? 1976 Toyota Celica Liftback

It always happens, whenever we find a cool version of a particular classic, there is always a better example lurking somewhere on the internet.  To post or not to post is always the question.  The rule of thumb developed within the DT office (hah!) is that the new example must offer significantly greater value or be a Batmobile, custom El Camino.  Seriously if we found 50 Batmobile El Caminos in a row they would be posted and all of these Toyota Celica liftbacks would be left to rot.  Find this 1976 Toyota Celica Liftback offered for $3,350 in San Jose, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

This Toyota Celica is covered in a somewhat shabby coat of beige paint, but  it seems to be all there and the wheels match.  Actually, the wheels are one of the better cosmetic features on this Celica and look quite nice.

Under the hood is the stock 20R inline-4 cylinder engine, good for 117 horsepower shifted via a 5-speed manual gearbox.  On the inside it looks used, but hard to tell much with the seat covers, dash pad and steering wheel cover.  It could be perfectly mint under all those cover up pieces, but more than likely it is a disaster.

See a better way to live your JDM fantasies...find us a better Celica...we'll post it.  tips@dailyturismo.com

  1. No points for the color, that's for sure. I actually prefer the coupe to the lift back for looks. These look cool, but kind of boring to drive. I saw one for sale on the side of the road about 6 months ago and took it for a spin. Driving it did nothing for me. I remembered why old people used to buy them in the 1970's.
