10k: Cryptorchidism: 1993 GMC Jimmy Twin Turbo GM V8

The S/T-15 Jimmy was GMC's sister car to the popular Chevy Blazer compact SUV and upscale Oldsmobile Bravada.  GMC created a performance version called the Typhoon, but that is child's play compared to today's modified example which with you and friend driving around could be described as the motoring equivalent of undescended testicles --literally two nuts in a Jimmy.  Find this 1993 GMC Jimmy Twin Turbo GM V8 for sale in Wisconsin Rapids, WI bidding for $6,600 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go.

This Jimmy has been through a full "frame off" restoration according to the seller - not sure why you'd need to do anything that drastic on a car only 20 years old, but who can argue with a rust free frame and newish paint.  Whatever - that isn't the reason you want to check out this Jimmy.

Pop the hood and --sweet moons of Jupiter - those are some huge turbochargers bolted onto a GM L33 Vortec 5.3 liter V8.  The seller claims that it has been dyno tuned to put out 555 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs of torque at 13psi boost pressure while running e85 ethanol.  All wheel drive isn't going to stop the burnouts in this beast.

Who doesn't love a teal digital dash with central lime green speedo, odo and gear selector setup - seriously who at GM thought this was an acceptable gauge setup for a production vehicle?

Final thoughts - consider wearing an adult diaper on the test drive as stock suspension, wheels/tires and brakes could rapidly lead to a few "oh snap" moments.  See a better Jimmy for less? email us here: tips@dailyturismo.com

  1. Seeing as how this is a GM vehicle, I feel the following correction is required:

"seriously who at GM thought this was an acceptable gage setup".

Now, insert the obligatory "good luck with smog" blah blah blah that you typically get from me on anything with a non-stock engine, and enjoy your torques.

Why does it have an oldsmobile bravada grille? Wrecked?

  3. Looks like an awesome motor in a lame wrapper. Seller says...

“frame off restoration 2 and a half years ago... around 2500 to 3000 miles since restored”

Any time the phrase "frame off restoration" is used, the interior should not suck like this. If the owner thinks this is "restored" I'm wondering what his idea of "rebuilt turbos" means.
