5k: Unsold Adams: 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E W201 w/2jZ swap

The Mercedes-Benz W201 chassis was a compact luxury sedan from Germany and wasn't very sporty unless equipped in the 2.3-16V version with dog-leg manual gearbox.  A gearhead could swap a different drivetrain into the W201, but we don't stumble upon them very often, so it is surprising to find this one.  This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E W201 is powered by a Toyota 2JZ and 5-spd manual transmission swap and for sale in Reading, PA for $5,000 via craigslist.

The internet is ripe with Toyotas, Lexii, Nissans, and Fox Mustangs with 2JZ swaps (yo!) but to find a 190E that "hasa 2JZ with manual w58 trans" is extremely odd.  The single photograph included shows an underexposed car with large CLS 500 wheels and the text includes very thin details.  Awesome car, incredible potential, but compromised by the Unsold Adams quality photos and an ad that the seller couldn't put 5 minutes of details into.  At least the price is nice.

Last thoughts, what is going on with the hood?

  1. Interesting, but 18 kinds of verboten in The Peoples Democratic Republic of California. Such a sparse ad doesn't help his case.
