5k Flash: Black Pearl Jagolet: 1989 Jaguar XJS with LT1 V8 Swap

Another day, another Corvette powered Jaguar on ebay...but this time it isn't a barnyard turd find.  What it does have are hideous rims and a great price - a combo that Charlie Sheen and the staff of the Daily Turismo call "winning."  Find this 1989 Jaguar XJS with LT1 V8 in Birmingham, AL, currently bidding on ebay for $4,600 with 4 days to go.

This car is sold by an ALL CAPS SHOUTING SELLER WHO STATES"CUSTOM PAINT ITS BLACK WITH RED CHERRY PEARL IT WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF"  Stop shouting and learn to use punctuation..SIRRR11!!

The paint clearly qualifies as "bling", but the 300 (or so) horsepower LT1 under the hood is all go and no show.

We love the look of the spindly Jag automatic shifter, knowing that this delicate British lever is in command of some brash American ponies.  The interior looks in fair to good condition and is presentable for daily use.

With a decent looking set of wheels we think this could be a great driver for an older professor who currently drives a Passat with 200k miles on it, but misses the Jag from his younger days.  Keep driving the beater for the commute and use this beauty for a weekend cruiser.

  1. ~ love Jag-Chevy swaps, and this isn't an exception. have to get closer look at the paint. but the person who can overlook the SHOUTING,and grammar/punctuation and the reserve is reasonable, well just maybe... is there a major discount if the seller keeps the wheels?

    1. ~ $6200 didn't buy it. really makes the pasture-find '83 Jag w/Chevy V8 [from February 19] for $1200 scream 'winning'! like to know what this seller feel his convertible is worth.

  2. Maybe you could get some of your readers to send in photoshopped pictures of this car with different wheels on it... shhhhh... no shouting!

  3. I would love to see that paint, and would love to take this hybrid for a spin around town...

  4. I love that red interior. It's quite rare in these cars; most are tan, sometimes black.

Also, the engine is an L98, not an LT1. I have informed the seller.

  5. Brings to mind two friends who each had a 12 cyl Jag. Both had so many engine electrical problems that they each did a L98 swap and drove happily ever after. There is a cottage industry making bell housing refit kits for these cars. I actually kinda like the wheels.
